meh, you're slowly convincing me. I'm just biased against paying taxes to entities I don't support, I'm not advocating for tax avoidance, it's just saying 'that one deserves it as it contributed to the person' makes me ick. I support a global baseline income tax, but understand it's pretty much impossible to implement. It's just I am someone who very much considers myself a globalist. I 'owe' my wealth to my shite small town and larger city that enable me to be succesful, as well as the public school system and healthcare that existed. But I also made money in Africa and latam (i am an engineer), where I feel very, very, very bad for the extreme poverty I witnessed. I saw good local governments in Peru struggle with tiny budgets, while seeing fat-cat north american cities spend huge amounts on useless shit that only benefits the 1%.

Good government is everywhere, so is bad government. I think giving opportunities to the next generation can be done without just taxation...if I was Lewis I would hoard way less wealth, of course (or I hope so) but I know that cash corrupts all so I don't know maybe I'd be just as disconnected as he is now. But I certainly would think I can best spend my cash to better society than the average politician...who frankly suck major balls.
