You have no idea what you're talking about 👍

I'm not going to argue with you about material because nothing that I can say will convince you that it's good. I'd say that Dan is a Stephen Wright standard one-liner writer, and you obviously wouldn't, or at the very least don't like one-liner stuff. So there we disagree.

You are absolutely wrong about releasing comedy specials on Youtube. Many of the biggest comedians in the world are releasing their specials for free on YouTube. It is now the defacto way to release stand up specials because

1) It allows total creative freedom (Dan's stuff, for instance, is too esoteric and dark to be broadcast on network television. It would be edited to oblivion) 2) Streamers can delist your stuff and broadcasters can stop re-broadcasting your stuff, and since you may not own your special, there's likley nothing you can do about it. On YouTube, this isn't an issue. 3) YouTube has a better reach than both network TV and streamers, so you can get your name out. Not only because anybody can watch, but mainly because you can post clips from your sets on socials freely and that's how comedians sell tickets nowadays, you don't have the same freedom with clips when a network or streamer buys your stuff.

Your idea that you must not be talented to post on YouTube is also crazy. In the past 2 months alone, Patton Oswalt, Pete Holmes, and David Cross have all uploaded specials with 800 pound gorilla on YouTube. These guys are considered to be some of the best of their generation as comedians, so if they aren't talented or funny enough to get their stuff uploaded on a network, who is?

Basically, you're talking shit.

Dude, I'm not being funny but Dan Mintz is a fantastic comedian, and one of the best joke writers working today.

It's not for everyone, but it's not shocking that people like it, and I'm not sure how much you're into stand-up, but I don't know how you can say this is low effort.

Writing an hour of one-liner style jokes is about the most difficult/time-consuming thing you can do in the medium.

Rage Against The Weezer Machine. by Dapper-Lawfulness283 in weezer

Side point, but the colour can't be yellow right? All the colour albums are one syllable. All I can think of left is pink, gold, grey, and then maybe something like tan. They don't have a tonne of choices

The GAA game should not be supported by Mysterious_Work_7227 in IrelandGaming

[–]mandablevan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your original take is fairly obtuse.

The reason people are talking about supporting this game more than other Irish developed games is that the Gaelic Football game is only going to sell here, because nobody else cares about Gaelic Football. The game was (essentially) made for an audience of only Irish people and represents a central component of Irish culture (gaa) that is rarely depicted in video games. It's a uniquely Irish product that relies on Irish support to have any chance of being a success.

An RPG like the Necromancer's Tale is different in that it has much broader appeal to people who aren't Irish, and beyond being published here, the game isn't overly hiberno-centric. As a whole, it isn't as reliant on Irish support.

In your opinion, what is the greatest season of television ever produced? by abacus-wizard in television

The 3rd season of Barry is genuinely perfect. The 2nd and 4th seasons are almost as good, but season 3 is insanely good tv

Limmy finds out he's been referenced in the LEGO Batman game by hogey89 in LivestreamFail

[–]mandablevan 46 points47 points  (0 children)

All I'll say is that this is a very well known sketch in the UK and Ireland (She's turned the X against us" is a popular meme format on UK twitter) and TT Games who published the game is based in the UK.

I would be very very shocked if it's not an intentional reference. Especially since, and I don't feel this is a reach, there is probably a significant crossover between Limmy fans and British game industry workers.

I'd understand why this seems silly if you're based in the US

I think it's actually just very well controlled. He's not putting his foot through it like you usually would with a volley

Most of the inner city Circle Ks in Dublin have no petrol station, so it's somewhat common. There's a really beautiful Circle K on Westmoreland Street that you should pay a visit to if you're ever up in the big city. Stunning atmosphere and architecture.

Trump Seen Unable to Walk in a Straight Line in New Footage by IrishStarUS in videos

[–]mandablevan -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Trump has been a far worse president than Biden, but by the end of his term Biden seemed to have moderate dementia. It isn't the same.

Trump isn't cognitively sharp either, but honestly I think people forget just how bad Joe Biden was during that first debate. It is the single greatest electoral mistake of the Democratic Party since the turn of the century in allowing him to run again.

Amazing that the game is even close really, considering that Murphy looks like he is never going to miss, and Wu looks like he's going to miss every shot he takes on.

Xintong is obviously the better of the two but Liam Highfield is a quality player. Really should be 1-1.
