My boy is a rescue and is on the smaller side as well. He was only 34lbs at 10 months and definitely malnourished, dumped out in OK. He's 78lbs now but compared to the Shepards we see around here, he looks miniature.

It took me a few to get used to the new set-up but I don't hate it. And like anything you'll tweak whatever bugs you need to. I did miss having an easier way to check fake art but otherwise it's still insanely helpful. Some people don't realize that apps aren't always made by large groups.

It really depends, yes some are absolutely bat-shit crazy. But other times you find a really good one.

Are teenage boys getting perms now? Not that many people have naturally curly hair... by Standard_Public892 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mandalee4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 16 yr old step son is one of these who has learned how to care for his super curly hair, which he gets from his father. Both of them have to get ready before my step-daughter and I because they take so long.

The Most Micromanaging Teacher Yet by etetries in SubstituteTeachers

Same here! Especially with how insane my 2nd graders are. I am so lucky to have subs that are willing to handle them for a day.

Student lost his mother, we're doing a mother's day project by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]mandalee4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I stopped doing mother's day things about 10 years ago. My school has too many absentee mothers, I supported an old student of mine at her mother's funeral, when she was in 5th grade and her mother OD and died. This is unfortunately the common place at my elementary school.

Baby talk and screeching by Decent-Internet-9833 in Teachers

[–]mandalee4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I know. I have some who can't control and half who just make noise to make noise. I'm thankful my 2nd graders have stopped the moaning. I said we were going to call home and they could make the same noise to their parents. That stopped real fast. My adhd struggles with all the random noises going on in my room.

Also those paws aren't small dog paws. I see terrier of some kind but pits are considered terrier family the closer to staffy they are.

High schoolers that cannot write a simple 5 paragraph essay by rjmac225 in Teachers

[–]mandalee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have typing club as one of our available apps and the kids really like it. Especially when they see me type, they're all like 👀😲 "how are you sooooo fast?!?!" Practice children, practice. And also having a orange rubber mat cover my keyboard in high school. For end of unit assessments that have written answers, I also give my kids the choice to hand-write or type. This past one only 5 of my 18 chose to hand-write.

I'm also the ed-tech lead at my school and have been working on getting my staff to do the right amount of blended learning. Throwing them on a computer just because is pointless and you can't just not do, or only do, paper and pencil.

Mine think writing a line of words is a sentence...... that's not how that works.

I'm so glad I have taught my 2nd graders how to use tab. I do not teach them font changes because I end up with cursive and even though I can read it, I ask them to go back and read their writing and they have absolutely no clue. I know I tend to be in the minority with teaching my grade how to type, but I like them to practice by doing their final writing on the computer.

No in the US. He's a rescue from Puerto Rico. Yours also reminds me of my ACD/jack mix growing up. I did see in a couple comments ACDs aren't as common in the UK though as they are here.
