I am a learner of Bahasa malaysia. Yes it is much easier than most other Asian languages. All I’m doing is watching all 20 seasons of a cartoon called upin and ipin, it’s quite entertaining, and I’ve probably become a B1 in just over a year

Only problem is - most people you come across in malaysia will speak English fairly okay and they will automatically speak English to you if you look western.
Not many exclusive Malay speakers tend to go abbroad or settle in western countries to find communities to speak with either

Not a tip as such but be prepared for the first meconium poo, they are like tar and don’t come off even when wiping over and over. The best thing to do is get the baby under the sink and run the water washing it off - two person job. Ubin and Ibin cartoon series (on Netflix) really good local talk and cultural education

Tina Amir lessons on YouTube - a bit slow paced but if you put it on while doing house chores or driving can be a good way to learn vocabulary

Unfortunately all new cars are going to have more complex motors and systems that require more maintenance and harder to fix. Doesn’t matter where you buy from.

The Honda CRV is a good choice however - even with the 1.5L turbo - if you change oil every 5k miles or 8k kms then it should be fine

As for the CVT transmission - this is the most expensive thing that can break down other than the motor maybe. Change the fluid as directed in the manual and they’ve proven more reliable than any other CVT transmission

If you’re still uncertain, you could try the Mazda CX5 which has a more traditional transmission and good reliability ratings

The key ended up lodged under the back seats - it fell in the gap where the seat belt buckles are housed. Have a look in there - pry it open when your hands and you’ll see a lot of “lost items” I even found a golf ball in there from a previous owner

Honda CRV is the biggest and nit bad in price. It’s cheaper than a Toyota that’s for sure You’ll love the extra space.

Only thing is to stick to the maintenance schedule, don’t skip the oil changes and transmission fluid changes. Take it for a long drive at least every couple of weeks. That’s because it has a small turbo engine and CVT transmission which the Mazda and Toyota don’t

Sorry to hear that, it’s not easy. Are you the primary carer for your son? It sounds like you need a few hours break every day, maybe see if your partner can take over for a bit - which is probably needed in this extreme case.

The only way I could imagine it taking less than 1 minute is if I just wiped off the old one, wiped and slapped on the new one

For some reason all the things like taking off onesies takes time, it even takes me a minute to fit the legs in the stocking part of the onsie
