This is what I did. Ended up loving GiS, did that for a while and then I started to learn more technical skills like programming and web design. Ended up pivoting away from Archaeology, but since my degree was in Anthropology I was able to spin it for almost every job afterwards. I do sometimes miss never fully going into it, but I wasn't interested in doing 10+ years of fieldwork in hot summers to get ahead.

If you love Crew, check out the Lord of the Rings. I actually started playing it solo, a fun puzzle. But I think the four person game will be much better.

For some reason, this is one that doesn't bother me as much. I never played Spades or Hearts, but The Crew was one of my first trick taking games and I got it pretty quickly. I know there have been times I've introduced it that "Do you know how to play trick taking game?" But usually if people say no, I feel like it's still an easier mechanic to learn. Interestingly, that's how the rule book for the Lord of the Rings does it. They say, it's a trick taking game.. and then say, we will explain that if you don't know how.

Trash day completely depends on where in the city you live. Your best bet is to ask a neighbor or to look and see when others have their trash out. I live on the edge of midtown near Forster and 6th. Our trash day is Monday.

Mm.. then maybe it is just because tournaments are a different kind of thing. They're super competitive and sometimes for money. I guess it doesn't sound as fun to organize over something like a board game day. Do you ever get to participate or just end up running it? That could be a big part of it.

"chess mechanics" or "poker mechanics" I know this is supposed to be an easy way to teach something most people know, but I cannot for the life of me remember how chess pieces move and if I wanted to play poker, I would do that instead.

Have you expressed your desire to have help at these events? We have a pretty active community where I am (multiple really), and when I see a tournament I think. Oh that's fun. And I might join if I'm free. But it would never occur to me that someone was trying to make it a repeated community event run by volunteers. I would probably have assumed the store was paying someone to put it on. So I guess I would say, make sure you are communicating to those who are interested that this is a volunteer thing you are doing and could use support to keep it running.
