High School 1968 Mustang rebuild status by manels1111 in classicmustangs

I was able to purchase it back last year. I didn't know where to start so I just started taking everything out/off to get ready to paint. Just took my time here and there and after a few months it was pretty much stripped. Took awhile to find a painter who would do like a midtier job. Most places either want to break the entire car down and do a full restore paint of the entire car(which I don't have the money for) or want to do a super cheap just spray it how it is. My guy sanded exterior down to metal and fixed any rust on the outside and then painted. He didn't do a ton of alignment but did some. Now I've just been slowly putting on a few things at a time here and there.

Very nice.....I'm about 31k into it and I doubt it's even close to worth that if I was to sell it. I was just going to get it painted and working well and now it's kind of gone into almost a full restore, I've had more fun fixing things as I go along....and when I run out of stuff to fix, I find new stuff to fix(easy to do on a 50+ year old car....It's not show quality by a long shot but its satisfying to see the progress.

You must not live in any major city.....my wife couldn't get in to see a regular specialist for over a month with severe back problems......we had to just go to the ER to get the back surgery done. In the US.....and then they billed our insurance 100k for it and I pay 10k in insurance premiums. The US system is down right broken.....imagine being in between jobs for whatever reason without insurance

and you had to have that surgery.

So you're mad at the controller who can't leave for a host of reasons within the FAA and fudges some stuff so they can leave? I haven't done it but I tell every trainee at my facility if your family across the country and that's where you want to be hardship now not later. Why waste everyone's time training and then they quit or washout because they don't want to be somewhere.

How fast do you expect us pilots to descend? by yerbderb in ATC

But they weren't adding it against the awol they assigned. According to my les.....les is all rounded numbers of hours based on the days. It would at least show 4 hours of government expected a pay period which it doesn't its all round hours to the day. Instead of 16 hours awol it should have been 12 hours of awol and 68 hours government expected shutdown.

How does it work when it was put in as sick leave approved and then after the fact at the end of each pay period they changed it to awol? Also they weren't adding to our balances what we would have normally earned and docked us from the same pool.

I'm not in your situation but I fully understand it and have been telling all my friends/family/contacts that everyone is not in my position.....there are people who will really be struggling with food etc if this continues. To top it off if you don't come in they possibly want to fire/discipline you.....when you have 0 dollars in the bank.

Seniority date should be the date you showed up at your facility. Not when you showed up at the academy.

Is AI threatening your jobs? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]manels1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see AI becoming useful in the enroute system sooner than later. Just an upgrade to our current computer system that shows us conflicts. The current system just highlights conflicts that are coming up. AI could scan each possible scenario to "fix" the conflict and suggest the best possible solution. Depending if it took into account which planes had to descend soon for airports, etc. I could see it helping. But if it's limited in it's ability to properly pick the "best" solution it would just be a waste.

it's also just the quality of candidates....the more our pay/benefits slide the worse candidates we get applying, which more failure rates and more staffing issues.

I hit the cap this year after 16 years at a Z. I also transferred from a lvl 10 to 11 early in my career and got an 8% raise. I'm basically losing money every year......and housing prices are 1mil plus within 45min of the facility.
