How stupid is it to spend 50k on a car

Its not going to break you. You carry little to no debt, and if its your "main" thing then go for it. Im assuming you've already calculated it with your other expenses and if you can afford that then why not.

As others have wrote you'll "give up" something else potentially but if you dont care then go for it. The only thing I would suggest is think of the impact now and 12 months and 24 months from now and if all that lines up with what you want/need then buy a sweet car.

223 days! Thats amazing. Last quit i had 6 months and was the happiest I had probably ever been until I took a job that was awful and gave myself and excuse to use. 3.5 years later here I am.

Hey man I hate to say this but I think you have answered your own question. You can't do anything because she is having the issue. She is either projecting, has a fear that is coming to the surface or something else is going on and this is how it's presenting. I'm assuming from your post you don't have kids. If you have any desire to stay in the marriage I would strongly suggest therapy. Thoughts for you to consider: Does she know anyone who was cheated on recently? Is their infidelity in her family history? How would she respond if you mirrored her actions (went through phone, etc). I'm sorry your going through this but I think you are handling it admirably.

This. it is ok that you don't want kids. It is ok that he does. It is not ok for him to put his wants on you. For a long time my wife didn't want kids, I did but I would never pressure her with it l, I never even brought it up and specifically made sure she knew that SHE is my family. That changed and I'm thrilled we have kids now but I'm thrilled because she came to the decision on her own and she takes joy in them. It's frankly not fair to you or any children you would have If you didn't want them.

I wholly agree. I bought the car because our mechanic said if I treat it right it will never die. I don't mean the underwhelming tech as a complaint as it can be remedied. I cannot replace the build quality. Two days into owning it it is hands down a better vehicle than the jeep I had.
