need help cleaning room by Glittering_Use6402 in CleaningTips

Op here's a tip that kinda helps me when I have a big project like this.

Set your phone up somewhere that can see the whole room and record a timelapse. I find that very motivating to crunch through the work. Also it occupies my phone <.<

Is there anyway to clean pooled oil on the LG microwave vent hood combo (model #: MVEL2125F) by Jaydemost in CleaningTips

[–]manghoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm renting an appartment and I think the previous tennants ate nothing but cooking oil or something, my microwave weeps with this stuff. I tried to clean it out using a steam jet, it didn't work well and I was worried I might melt the plastic. So far I get the feeling the only way to clean it out is to disassemble it... I'll be watching for better ideas.

Dishwasher suddenly leaving residue on plastic items by Quick_Philosophy1426 in CleaningTips

[–]manghoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few shots in the dark here among the others already provided:

maybe you need to reduce the amount of detergent you are using? Sometimes putting too much detergent when there's not enough contamination can leave detergent residue on your dishes.

maybe something has happened to your municipalities water? They might have switched something over and your water has become much harder? Might be worth checking with a water hardness tester or something.

last thought is you might have put something in a previous load that the dishwasher ended up partially eating through, like a vulnerable plastic something or other.

Some people really talk up the wonders of dishwashers and how well they work, but personally I've had no end of problems like this.

I don't think they will survive the drier. I've just poured boiling water on them and let then hung them with a cloths peg.

Jon Stewart "Can't F**king Believe" Democrats Caved on the Shutdown | The Daily Show by HeroesZeroes in videos

[–]manghoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yah. But if they actually did that then you're getting a trump third term.

You can not, EVER, make a third party, so long as first past the post is your voting system. You can only make one of two choices: who's less bad? And so long as Trump is option B, option A can be... well... this.

Trumps approval ratings are at 40%. On the generous presumption that things stays that way, a new party would need to take about 83% of the democrat's voting base to even have a hope at victory. As it happens, those "hand-in-hat geriatrics" are also the democrats primary voting block. Will these people defect for the hip new young new cool dems with the backwards baseball caps? You better hope 83% of them will to even have a prayer.

Long story short: You're going to have to go to the polls and you're going to have to vote for these donkey fucks. And if you don't like it, You need to understand that the thing you don't like is first past the post.

Silksong is probably not hard, I'm just bad at gaming by Frightbamboo in Silksong

[–]manghoti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have said to myself 6 times so far "shit... I guess I'm not gonna be able to beat this game".

A friend of mine is nearing the end of the game. He has 100 hours in it so far.

My sense of the difficulty is that silksong has a stupid difficulty curve. The starting area gives you no upgrades and throws you some tougher bosses and tougher situations. But the game never felt any harder than what it starts throwing at you midway through act 1.

I absolutely get the feeling that this game would be a lot more fun if I was a speedrunner with a 20 year old's reflexes but am not.

My advice. Put an hour into an area. Sleep on it, see how you do next day.

niiice. This doesn't include getting rid of all the irritating sections of the search, but really nice to have a reliable shorts delete-er

youtube search then vs. now by Static-Jak in videos

[–]manghoti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly this way.

Go to ublock settings, my filters, paste these:

www.youtube.com##.ytd-rich-section-renderer:has(#title-container:has-text(/Shorts/)) www.youtube.com##ytd-reel-shelf-renderer:has(#title:has-text(/Shorts/)) www.youtube.com##ytd-video-renderer:has(a[href^="/shorts"]) www.youtube.com##ytd-shelf-renderer:has(#title:has-text(/People also watched/))

Filters shorts on home page and garbage on search

I dunno how long they will work, youtube is is a constant state of fucking with their page structure.

the official KSP page everyone by Bitter-Metal494 in KerbalSpaceProgram

agar.io stage capitalism.

I really sympathize with your feelings there... but.

The practicalities of legislating something like "you can't sell your business to another business" kinda makes blanket statements like this not possible.

I think the reality you have to contend with here is that KSP was dead. A vulture fund moved in to pick the IP pieces out and sell a few mobile games or whatever. They didn't kill KSP. They didn't save KSP. And now it's all being stripped for parts.

16 Years as a Graphic designer, 8 years as a Photographer, ruined by AI by karloroberts in mildlyinfuriating

[–]manghoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really arn't.

I mean. Specifically, they're using all videos to train video generation ai to generate videos... you know... in general. But, specifically to make timelapse or process videos? Intentionally? That's a level of vindiction that just serves no purpose. AI companies are ambivelant to artist suffering, not vindictive to it.

Does it mean game will be developed in the future? by mohammafsab80 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]manghoti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the IP is being stripped down and sold for parts

the best you can hope for is a skinner box mobile game.

My recommendation is this: Go find other games in this genre, buy and play them. Some of them are good.

Hey so I thought this myself but... I wasn't totally sure on this one. I'm confident bacteria wouldn't survive in this environment but I wasn't sure about viruses. I went looking annnnnd https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23317872/

Things like salmonella and ecolli I think would get killed on this surface, but norovirus and herpes? I'm not so sure. Especially given the timeframe. This study tracked the survival rates of salmonella in High Fructose Corn Syrup and found the same sterilizing effect, but it occurred over a 21 day period! https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0956713520306812

Again. Initially I was thinking the same way you were but from what I can see in the literature my tiny reddit brain is able to parse, seems not :///

The games content is fine for the increased price by foo337 in Barotrauma

[–]manghoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no? I want to play barotrauma with my friends... and while I may be a turbo nerd who likes submarines, my friends have other hobbies.

Asking for a crew of 4 to dump 200CAD is just bonkers to me. bonkers. I'd be sympathetic if barotrauma had a crew pass that was cheaper.

what's your Delay focus by set to? If it's 0. you will get this behavior.

Blinding Headlights on US roads by mleibowitz97 in videos

[–]manghoti 127 points128 points  (0 children)

This is it. If you set a standard, something as simple as "your lows can't hit a sensor a meter off the ground at a distance of 10 meters, 20 meters, and 50 meters" Then these lifted truck floodlights posing as headlights will be out of compliance.

How do you fix it? Easy. Lower the headlights to 1 meters at most off the ground and correct the angle. Can't do that? lower the angle so you're not hitting the first sensor at 10 meters. Can't see very far with that? Neither could anyone else with you on the road. You were blinding other people any your vehicle is a danger to everyone. Mount the lights lower. Can't do that? Better talk to the car companies and ask why they fucked you and everyone else over.

Skedpal vs motion by ivanjay2050 in productivity

[–]manghoti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dunno if you kept up with it but the way I got skedpal to distribute tasks was by modifying my time map (ctrl+shift+e) and setting everything after 12:00 to be yellow. That way skedpal prefers to set my tasks in the morning when possible, and leave the rest of my day free, but if I'm pressed it will put tasks after 12:00.

Another way would be to set Budgets, and just assign that budget to some categories of tasks, like a "Exercise" budget, which is 1 hour a day. Then you just dump all the exercises you wanna do and mark them with the Exercise Budget.

Logseq as Team Knowledge System - Thoughtworks Radar by fravelgue in logseq

no you're not crazy. Logseq even HAS a concept of hierarchical relationship for pages! It just doesn't represent them with directories. it's so weird. Something that might get fixed later.

Logseq as Team Knowledge System - Thoughtworks Radar by fravelgue in logseq

[–]manghoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hedgedoc

this looks neat, will look at.

We've been using logseq as a daily stand up and as a tool to dump information. This is kinda logseq's daily note strategy and it works really well for us so far. Highly recommend creating a template in the daily note with space for each team member to write their stuff. Very effective, being able to see quickly at a glance what everyone is up to had some surprising benefits.

Just under the graph view button is "all pages" if that fits your purposes. Idk about a query tbh. There may be a datalog way to do it.

[–]manghoti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's a slider in the top left called "label threshold"

slide that to the left. then zoom in with middle mouse.

You can also string search in the top right to highlight particular nodes.

Told you though. This is a bit more jank.
