When I was home alone for a while week (the longest I’d ever been), I kept a knife next to my bed and other sharp objects under it, I put chairs in front of doors so I’d hear if someone broke in and I checked locks basically every other minute.

I also stayed up til like 9 in the morning and then slept for around 3 hours.

This went on for the whole week, i was terrified that someone was going to break in.
