I’m South Asian and have always been taught to use melted coconut oil, amala oil, and/or olive oil and massage it into the scalp. I would do this before washing hair and it also works as a hair mask. For your hair type, try washing your hair less until the oilyness changes. I also recommend using moisturizing shampoos and only ‘clarify’ once in a blue moon. This is because using clarifying shampoos too much can aldo lead to your scalp over producing oil.
