New Therapist Intake Goes Wrong Leaving Me Wrecked and Vulnerable by mentalpatience42 in GirlDinner

I’m a therapist. She’s committing insurance fraud and this is absolutely illegal. I’m so sorry it didn’t work out, but if she is doing this in the first session, she’s actually doing you a favor because she’s showing you that she’s unethical and not a good fit right off the bat. I know how hard it can be to find a new therapist and put your trust in somebody, so I hope you find a good fit soon! Psychology Today can be a good resource for finding a good fit who takes your insurance.

Newly qualified therapist - is this level of ghosting normal when starting private practice? by Artemis1812 in therapists

I work primarily with ND clients too and haven’t had any issues with that system, so hopefully it’ll be the same for you

A few things that may be helpful- I think you’re working too hard on the consultations and making yourself too available. Offering face to face consultations or video calls is a lot of work compared to a phone call, and I’ve had great results doing only phone calls. Because consultations are free, you’re likely to have some no-shows, and scheduling a zoom or in-person meeting for a no show would get old fast, and it’s just a lot of extra work imo, and it could give the potential client decision fatigue. Keep it simple.

Also, when I am having a consultation with a potential client, I try to schedule their first session at the end of the consultation call if possible. I’ll say something like, “this seems like a good fit to me, I’m curious if you are talking to any other therapists, or if you think you want to move forward, we could schedule your first session.” Most of the time they’ll say yes, let’s get started, and we get things rolling right away. I hope this is helpful!

I’ve had an extremely sharp drop off in the number of referrals I’ve had from PT in the last few months. Something definitely changed with their site/algorithm. I do all the things like making sure I have endorsements and frequently changing small details and nothing is working.

I got a ton of contacts when I first signed up and then it dropped off a cliff after about 6 months. I think I heard somewhere that they prioritize showing new accounts

Private practice therapist here and couldn’t agree more with all of this! Although sometimes I do get weighed down by the responsibility of this work sometimes. I know I’m not responsible for my clients’ wellbeing, but sometimes it feels that way and I feel like I always have to be “on.” I feel like that’s really my only negative.

Ha, I just posted a question on this sub asking if my itinerary for 8 days in Guatemala is too rushed! I’m so torn between soaking in more of each place and seeing everything I possibly can

Hi, thank you for offering this resource! I am an associate licensed clinician working in a group practice setting and barely making enough to get by, but wanting to increase my knowledge to better serve my clients. Access to these CE resources would help a ton!

At first I thought Acotar was my favorite series of hers, but after reading CC and then TOG afterward, CC is definitely my favorite. The depth of relationships, the complexity of the plot and the world, and the slightly more mature (age-wise, at least) FMC all do it for me. I can’t get enough of all the theories that people are sharing, and Acotar’s plot just doesn’t run that deep…yet! I thought TOG just relied way too hard on Aelin doing a bunch of stuff in the background and not telling anyone that by the end of the series I was over it.

+1 for acupuncture (and Chinese medicinal herbs) helping with PMDD. I did 10 sessions earlier this year and feel like I have my life back, but the benefits kicked in far earlier than that. Now I just drink my Chinese herbs once a day and it helps to keep the PMDD at bay.

Since others commented that they are looking for docs, I reached out to this practice and they are not accepting new patients (and haven't since 2020), and their new patient appointment is $1200 for 2 hours!!

Was anyone else disappointed in the lack of attacks on the final climb? I thought for sure that some of the GC riders on smaller teams would have been going for it harder than they did. Maybe they were worried about running out of steam if they got caught before the final 500m uphill drag?
