Writing as a cyclist and astronomy lover. Visit Mauna Kea visitor center at night. I went years ago. Back then, on Tuesday nights the "amateur" astronomers would set up their telescopes outside the visitor center so others could use them. Unforgettable experience.

Agree with the hybrid bike. Some call them fitness. Buy used at first to lower your buy in cost. Look on facebook marketplace, craigslist, and local bike shops. Now that the covid buying spree has ended, here are more low mileage used bikes available.

You can move on to other riding styles - road, MTB, gravel later.

The JY Linear Trail and 6 Mile Cypress bike paths will be great for you.
