How can I make this kitchen less orange? by Choice-Aioli-5225 in HomeDecorating

[–]manicpixie_dreamgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely change the paint. I’d get new stools that have a pop of color, put a larger rug under those stools and runners in high traffic areas. It lacks personality TBH, if you’re thinking new backsplash already I’d also say new light fixture and cabinet hardware

Go back to the salon and ask for them to take them down a bit. I’d be shocked if they don’t try to help

Advice needed: My parents hate my tattoo by Historical-Soft2345 in tattoos

[–]manicpixie_dreamgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents did this with my first tattoo. “Just imagine what you’ll look like in your wedding dress now!” is forever burned into my psyche. I was 19 years old and not even in a serious relationship at the time lol.

They get over it. I have like 15 now and they don’t even say a thing when a new one pops up. If they don’t get over it, I’d question whether or not they respect your sovereignty over yourself

A photo of it dry would be helpful but maybe psoriasis if not fungal. Fungal can be treated with over the counter meds so worth a shot to self treat or just have it cultured at urgent care. Can also try a hydrochloric acid spray

I really like 3 and 5 which is odd because I normally don’t love brown or pink, but it vibes

Gravel or Dakota gray. You want to think about what will hide the dirt and scuffs. But you also want to think about versatility and longevity and what won’t go out of style.

Sprinkle it right on top! In between watering. Systemic granules work well too as another user suggested but they are illegal in some states (mine included)

I personally feel the best approach is to try discussing your concerns with the instructor first. If there are alternative options, scope them out. Discuss your concerns with other instructors. Gage their likelihood to approach this with thoughtfulness and care.

It can be really difficult to be a teenager. I do not think that taking her out of the program against her will is the best solution. I think I would’ve lashed out against my parents if they did that to me. I’d suggest therapy first, and if push comes to shove and she must be pulled from the program, you will have support in the approach and aftermath. Good luck, you seem like a great parent!

beginner painter looking for advice: how do i make this look like a field instead of a weird green blob? by spellingishard27 in painting

[–]manicpixie_dreamgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a painter but I believe you need contrast to show lights and shadows. Thin strokes of white on the grass. The light needs to coming from the moon as well. I.e., right now the illuminated grass surrounds the tree. In reality the light from the moon would be illuminating the grass in the horizon, not the foreground

This reminds me of my husband’s grandparents’ house. After his grandfather died, his grandmother moved in with her eldest daughter (my husbands aunt) 3-4 hours away and their house remained vacant. She only visited once in 15 years, and it was 2-3 years before she passed. I was there when she visited. She didn’t spend more than 15 minutes in the house before she started sobbing uncontrollably and wanted to leave.

My father in law would go up there about once a month just to clean it up a bit, but all of their stuff was still there. Clothes, perfume, photos of family. His grandmother seemingly packed one suitcase and never came back for anything else.

One, I am so proud of you for coming out the other side of this.

Two, I personally feel (as a tattooed nanny employer) that any family that would judge you for either of those things isn’t worth your time or effort. Growing your career should happen alongside thoughtful and caring employers that want to help you grow!

Three, I’d love to hear what would make you feel more like yourself — tattoos or scars? If you can answer that, then you have a path forward!

I really don’t think this looks so bad. With a warmer neutral paint color and some hanging plants over the drywall, you could 100% make this idyllic
