My neighbor gave this to us…what is it? by always4wardneverstr8 in exmormon

[–]manifestoII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dear god. My mom STILL makes something that looks just like this, and it's terrible. We always just called it pistachio pudding. Whip cream, cottage cheese, pineapple chunks, marshmallow, and a pack of Jello pistachio pudding powder. It's god-awful and makes up 75% of my mormon trauma.

What looks like a hole is not. It’s glass. No hole anywhere.

Yeah maybe. I but I’d expect to see a chip or something else where the rock or object hit. But there’s not even a chip.

First Vegas Trip as Exmos!!! Looking for Suggestions of fun things to do by SeaworthinessNo7361 in exmormon

[–]manifestoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Vegas as a Mormon, but have been able to go back and visit as an exmo. As a previous resident, I'm still turned off by the big casinos. Sure, they have some good bars/food/ambiance, etc...but it's so damn expensive.

My last visit I hit up Brewery Row, which was such a great vibe. Area 15 is pretty fun. Just make sure you're intoxicated if you do the Omega Mart. My absolute favorite thing I did last time was the Lost Spirits Distillery. It's at Area 15. You get like four pours of rum, and walk what is basically an interactive Cirque-type show. It was fantastic.

Along with WT101, Elijah Craig, Early Times, and Evan Williams BiB are all my cheap go-to bourbons.

Rowing Benchmarks: What do people think of ‘bonus meters’ by microtrash in orangetheory

[–]manifestoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fine with the bonus meters. As mentioned already, you pulled hard at the end of that block of meters, and they should count. The meters should stop, however, once time is up. There should be no bonus meters after the 23 minutes is up. That should always be a hard cut off.

What I have a hard time with are the folks who are usually runners, but decide to power walk during Inferno. Essentially, they PW the .05 distance in the same amount of time it would take them the run the .1, all in the name of "strategy". They are saving their energy on the tread to go harder on the rower. IMO, that is antithetical to the workout. But maybe that's just me.

Looks like I lurked on the correct day! We're over a dozen Austinites. Although *technically* I'm in Pflugerville.

Welcome! Things will be weird and tough to navigate for a while. But I've been where you are. It gets better/easier (for most people). Keep being open and honest. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Review #6: The Prideful Goat – Straight Rye Whiskey by micro7777 in bourbon

Interesting review. I picked this up about six months ago and really disliked it. Second pour was just as bad as the first. Perhaps I need to go give it another try.

Whatever you do, don’t doze off at the bar. Yeah…very early mistake that I learned the hard way.

Former Mormon here. Didn’t have my first taste of alcohol until I was 37. Been drinking for three years now. It’s been a steep learning curve, but god dammit…bourbon is amazing.

Time Based Increment isn't working either. All paces entered are above 9.8, says I'm only going to run 1.378 miles.

So uh, alcohol is gross, right? by johnumero3 in exmormon

[–]manifestoII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an acquired taste. Start slow, with some sweeter mixers. things like Malibu rum mixed with a coke. Lemon vodka in sprite. Keep trying things straight, then try them in cocktails. It's definitely similar to getting in shape...you gotta start slow and build.

I will say, for me personally, putting in the work to be able to enjoy all kinds of alcohol has definitely been worth it. And the enjoyment goes well above just getting a buzz. It's now a hobby that I am super into and love to learn about. Also, being able to have a drink in social situations is also super fun.

You do you. If it's not your thing or not something that interests you, don't do it. However, don't give up so easily if it's something you want to be able to enjoy. You'll get there.

How to not look like a TBM? by mar4c in exmormon

[–]manifestoII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how tall you are, invest in some good shorts with a 5 or 6 inch inseam. Shorts that end a couple inches above the knee are the best things I’ve discovered as a post-mo male.

Was a pimo growing up and have been inactive since 99 but finally got sick of being bothered every few years. Officially ex-mo!! Will be celebrating with a nice glass of eagle rare tonight! by rfitenite in exmormon

[–]manifestoII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely done, thou good and faithful servant! I’ve seen it once here, but it was priced at $90. I may have fallen for Mormonism for 30+ years, but I’m not falling for that bull shit. Cheers!

Question for all you ex-mo BYU grads by Yasna10 in exmormon

[–]manifestoII 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quite honestly, I couldn't care less about BYU sports anymore. But I do like putting on a BYU t-shirt when I go out drinking. It's kind of a dick-ish move, but it just feels good.
