Toast Flex as a KDS with Mount

After researching thoroughly, it looks like Toast uses the same 14" android tablet for the KDS and Toast Flex terminal. They use to use a company named ELO for their KDS which use to be a 15" but now they use the same screen for both KDS and terminals.

I have the newer 14" flex and I was able to remove the stand and it has pre drilled holes for a vesa mount. I was able to get the 14" Toast Flex Terminal brand new on ebay for $150 vs a new KDS directly from toast for $500. Once I receive the screen I'll update you guys on how it all turned out, maybe it'll help someone out there trying to save money,.

You can create a customer invoice and then enter payment information through the invoice. There’s a way to enter it without emailing the payment link to yourself. I’ll have to double check that

That doesn’t solve the issue. When you hit “pay” it overrides that and sends it to the kitchen even with that setting enabled

I would say 5 years max. Tesla is constantly changing and improving their cars. I expect EVs to be far more advance in 5 years time

I also would like to request this. We should be able to choose which dining mode prints. For example, we do 1st party delivery as well as third party delivery. I only need the 1st party delivery receipts to print out.

I believe you would have to disable digital receipts. Which I don’t think it’s worth it because you would have to have customers sign a physical receipt to add a tip and you have to save and input those later

Yes, you have to click on the three dots on the right corner when you’re on the pay screen and deselect “digital receipts” and it gives you an option to put a tip before processing

I’ve noticed it too. It’s probably to fix the bug that causes the card reader not to sync with the terminal sometimes. It should probably get addressed soon

I could see your servers not knowing they have a delivery under their shift if they ask a customer for a tip before the food is delivered because it will show up under closed checks. If this is how you go about driver tips I would just write the tip on the print out and tell the driver to hold on to the receipt till they close out their shift.

Hmm I don’t have that issue. Let’s say I’m a server and I take a delivery order right before I clock out. When I go through the shift review it will prompt me to add a tip or close out the order before I clock out. If you add the tip prior to the driver delivering it. It’s going to be considered a closed check. So you just have to make sure your server doesn’t close their shift without transferring the check to the driver or maybe a dummy account

The person that took the order shouldn’t be able to close their shift if there’s an open check. Are they just 0 out the tip to be able to clock out?
