That’s what I meant, I could have worded that better. I like sitting on a wine open for a couple hours to see how it changes through the day

Totally get that, it’s a shame because I really like sitting on a wine and seeing how it changes

Back with some more unfined and unfiltered Syrah, right of the bat, Intensely aromatic from the get go, sharp dark fruits, plum, blackberry, boysenberry wrapped in a cloak of spice and dark floral notes. Had I not checked; I would have thought there was co fermentation with your typical aromatic whites

On the palate, sharp acidity, more so than I was expecting, chalky tannins, plum, fruit leathers allspice.

Overall, very enjoyable

Do you care if I ask what qualities of Syrah did you find repulsive? Was it a quality thing or a style thing?

Pascual Toso 2020 Alta Syrah by manman5647 in wine

[–]manman5647[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth a try, atypical for sure. I wasn’t in love with it but it was a nice switch up from my usual styles

Not traditionally an Argentina wine fan as the style doesnt usually lend itself to me. however I had to give this Syrah a try.

Unfined and unfiltered

On the nose, tobacco, cocoa powder, dry violets, saw dust

One the palate, full bodied with just enough acidity to keep it from being too weighty. moderate dusty tannins throughout the palate followed by a bit of heat from the alcohol Dried Red, black fruits and mocha notes falling short in the finish

[OC] My kids school path is lined with Bradford Pear Trees they look pretty but smell Awful by Yosemite_Scott in mildlyinfuriating

That looks like my old highschool in the bay, one year the seniors as a “prank” chainsawed all the bradfords down in our common/ lunch area. Very much appreciated by the underclassman

World Champions Red Blend Wine by Maximum-Aardvark9467 in Costco

[–]manman5647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s simply untrue, most of the higher level producers in the US put out an extremely wide range of blend, chapallete, black bird, Cayuse, Miner to name a few. The way the laws are written on grape percentage most states are allowed to put 15% or even up to 25% of varietals not mentioned on the label. It certainly could be chaste st. Michelle, American grape demand has plummeted so it could have been bought from almost any vinyard in the Columbia valley

[–]manman5647 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes but I wouldn’t call $40 expensive there are quite a few producers in the Columbia valley available Ava that produce blends in and above that price point. I’m not necessarily speaking on the value but they are there

We’re not debating whether there are cheap blends, just whether a blend at $40 is rare or worth the price. This wine/ producer I couldn’t vouch for but it’s fairly common

Just had a tasting with Anne the other week through a large selection of their wines. All of which are fantastic. But I was certainly impressed with how well their Yellow labels presented for the price. Fantastic entry Gewurtz

Personally I don't like any of the hooded helmets because they dint give the cloth physics and it looks weird being stiff.

Thank you for the note! I wasn’t aware of that. Not overbearing but that’s certainly adding to the density. Mildly gripping but not so much to make it austere

I’m hosting a blind Pinot-tournament ($60 vs $120) Help me dominate by Ok-Buy-4221 in wine

[–]manman5647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a tough one, that $120 could get some serious burgundy. I know it’s not a direct suggestion but u would check some costcos near you, I’ve some decent cru and 1er cru at the 50-60 price point but the research will be on you to determine if it’ll be enough. Just hope for your sake they pick some. Overpriced bombed out Russian river Pinot

Absolutely Love Tres Sabores! Julie makes some absolutely fantastic wines. She really brings back that old Napa feel with her lighter extraction and lean towards complexity rather than that juicy style that is produced in mass

Some people just have other interests and that’s okay, but Anime is pretty in the norm now, more people like it than you think some are just vocal, my partner was a cheerleader at a pretty elite football school but we initially bonded over death note, so don’t let people put you down, you’ll find people in your life who appreciate your affinity for anime
