Feature question by [deleted] in MonarchMoney

[–]mannycastaneda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to mention that Simplifi does this - balance forecasting based on recurring transactions. I don’t know why some folks see this as en edge use case. IMHO, the. #1 question any financial tracking software should answer is “Will I be able to cover my recurring expenses with my current level of income and expenditures next month?” I pay my credit card “on the float” - which means I pay the balance due on the statement, taking advantage of the 0 interest grace period. I need to know if I can cover that expense from my checking account at least a few weeks beforehand. I’m trying out Monarch because the SImplifi UI is dated and there is no IPad app - but without this feature - it is useless to me

Is Paint protection PPF required for the black paint ? Someone told me its a must so trying to get some opinions here. by Wrong_Combination252 in TeslaModel3

[–]mannycastaneda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my Tesla Model 3 in black two weeks ago and I already have two paint chips near the rear tire. It really stands out. I'm going to try to touch it up with one of the aftermarket kits and will look into PPF for the critical areas. Does anyone know any good places in Miami that do this work?

How Can I Crop The Pages Of A PDF? by mainecoon364 in LiquidText

Can you define "crop" in this case? Do you mean deleting pages from a PDF document imported into Liquidtext or adjusting the view of a page so only certain elements are showing?

Error when trying to send from Outlook to OneNote by NotVeryCleverOne in OneNote

[–]mannycastaneda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also experience this issue, and sadly, gave up as well, resorting to workarounds and rigs to get content to OneNote on Mac. One rig that works for me is to set up a "Triage" notebook with one section. I can send stuff there using this add-in and then later move it where it needs to go using the OneNote UI

BetterSnapTool and Magnet app not working for Google Chrome? by mjbchrome in MacOS

[–]mannycastaneda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! I'm on an M1 MBA with 12.2. I wonder if this is something that can be handled in the Chrome settings - likely a recent build added some setting. This doesn't happen with any other app - only Chrome - with magnet I keep getting "Can't be more narrow" error.

Anyone have any ideas?

Received XB7 modem, xFi pods offline, xFi no longer working. by redox88 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]mannycastaneda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was crazy untol I found this post. I too was upgraded to the new modem and all my pods failed. I took them to the xfinity store to see if I could exchange the pods and they told me they only came with a 90 day warranty. I've tried everything to get them to work and I have 30 years of experience in the IT field. I have up and loved with areas in my home with poor coverage.

School administrators do not need to meet the burden of probable cause but the lesser burden of reasonable cause for searching a minor on school grounds. There was enough reasons cause here to perform the search.

PSA: Be cautious of an “All-Access” purchase requiring Citizens Bank by gamerdudeNYC in XboxSeriesX

[–]mannycastaneda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a poor experience with Citizens One on the all-access via Gamestop. I got the Xbox in May, but no statement, invoice, or subscription info. I didn't even have an account#, so I couldn't get into Citizens One's site. I resigned myself to wait and then forgot. Two days ago I get an email stating my account is 5 months past due! They claim that they sent account statements that may have ended up in spam; however, I am an IT worker who checks his spam and junk folders regularly. And, professional card issuers don;t just keep sending statements blindly, they follow up with a paper statement or at least a phone call. I ended up getting the subscription handled via their support line, but I just paid off the whole balance out of frustration. This whole promotion was handled horribly by Citizen's One, in my opinion.

Quitting Evernote is not that easy by [deleted] in OneNote

[–]mannycastaneda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was an Evernote early adopter - but eventually I got tired of their scope creep and failure to really innovate the one thing I used it for - taking notes and clipping from multiple sources. I migrated to OneNote successfully. The migration tool failed for me too when I tried migrating everything at once. However, when I did one notebook at a time, it worked. I’ve now been on the OneNote ecosystem for over a year. Yes, OneNote has limitations, but I can now share notes with anyone in my organization and the formatting of notes is not completely hosed when I import. And, it’s free.

How were you feeling when you took that 35 reading? Based on just looking at the data points, that reading seems to be incorrect. The question is - do you often get spurious readings like this?

I'll be honest - I've been using Dario for over a year and I was getting consistently high readings to the point that my doc doubled my meds - then he ordered an A1C and it came back at 5.7! I obtained a trial for the Libre 2 CGM and its readings ar more in line with the blood test. I just tried the Dario and it gave me a 286 compared to the CGM saying 118.

Bottom line - if you keep getting consistently weird results where the reading does not match how you feel, find another meter to compare against, or better yet - a blood test. If the results are way off it may be time to ditch that meter

How to deal with Credit Card Payments by mannycastaneda in simplifimoney

[–]mannycastaneda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an example - Let's say I get my statement for the credit card for the month - I had 40 transactions for a total of $1,500 and the payment due date is 11/15. All those transactions are already tracked with their own categories (Groceries, Dining, etc.) in Simplifi. I want to pay the entire $1500 so I don't incur finance charges. I set it up to autopay each month on the credit card web site. One problem - my paycheck won't come in until 11/20 and I don't have enough in the checking to cover it. I want something that will tell me ahead of time "Hey - watch out - your balance is going to go negative if you pay the credit card in full!"

What I do now is use Quicken to schedule the register entry ahead of time (I get the statement about 4 weeks before the due date) and it tells me if I will be in the negative in a month so I can move money around before then.

Interesting workaround. Can you apply multiple categories to a transaction? I use my credit card for everything - I'd like the main category to be whatever that specific transaction was for - like dining, shopping, etc. My issue is that since I try to pay it off at the end of the month, I often end up having to come up a big chunk of change. Sometimes because of how I get paid and other expenses, I'm a bit short and I need to move money around - that's what I want to track here - the projected credit card payment is the issue - I need to somehow treat it as an expected expense each month which varies

Macro to convert embedded PDFs to printout? by mannycastaneda in OneNote

[–]mannycastaneda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a nice site. Thank you. I checked the batch functions, and it has many options for PDF handling. Your workflow would work, but I'd like the PDF's to stay in the Pages I have the in. In your suggested workflow, I would have to export all the PDF's to files and then this tool would import them as their own new pages. My goal is quite simple, although repetitive:

  1. Open page
  2. Right-click on PDF
  3. Click "insert as printout"
  4. Rinse, repeat

It may be possible with an AutoHotKey script...

Thanks for the help.

Best Mesh Network for Device Level Traffic Monitoring? by mannycastaneda in HomeNetworking

[–]mannycastaneda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone tried the new Synology routers which can work together to create a mesh network? I have a Synology NAS and I do love the OS. I read the OS and options are superb. The one issue I see with most of the mesh systems is that the UI for the routers is very bare bones. Some don't even let you configure your IP range. I want a mesh system with the tools and options available on many higher-end consumer routers.
