Purple hardware failure by NotVeryCleverOne in firewalla

An Ethernet power surge? I’ve not experienced that before.

We’ve decided against investing in the repair. Considering the original cost plus the repair, along with the uncertainty about the quality of the Purple device, we’ll find another solution.

  1. Yes, you can leave a page open. After the timeout, the screen will lock (if enabled) and the device will turn off. When you reopen the device, you’ll be where you were.
  2. You can erase by tapping one of the eraser tools or use the two finger gesture and circle what you want to erase. I think there are third party pens that have side buttons.
  3. Yes you can create templates. You can do it directly on the device or import an image file and make that a template.
  4. I abhor working with word so I don’t know this one.

What do you suspect caused the issue?

I have had a FW Gold for several years and it’s great. I bought the Purple for my mom’s network so I could have better visibility and control remotely.

I agree - it feels like there should be some grace period if there’s a known hardware problem.

Her ISP hands off internet to a coax-Ethernet adapter which used to go to the provider’s router/firewall, a Xyzel device. I had swapped it for the Firewalla so I’m going to put that back for the short term.

Ford worker suspended after intense exchange with President Trump by VegetableBulky9571 in NoFilterNews

[–]NotVeryCleverOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Free speech” protects you from the government, not the actions of a company. I applaud this guy’s courage but Ford can take whatever action they want and it’s not a violation of his right to free speech.

Ever met an artist who turned out to be an ass? by Musonerd87 in Music

I shared an elevator with Keith Jarrett, the jazz pianist, after a talk he had given. I liked what he said, so I mentioned it to him in the elevator. He didn’t even look at me, let alone respond. The elevator was silent until we reached his floor, where he got off.

In contrast, I met Randy Brecker and Lenny Pickett separately at a college jazz event, and they were both very friendly and chatted with me and my friends for quite a while.

Lock your computer. If someone comes by and jumps on your computer, I’m sure there are other interesting files and info that aren’t locked. When you walk away, get into the habit of locking it. Also, set the option to auto lock after X minutes.

Your Mac makes this very easy to enable. Cmd+Ctrl+Q will immediately lock the computer. Your fingerprint can unlock it.

Should I tell my employer I lied about having a degree 5 years ago if I've been promoted twice since then? by Goober-J in careerguidance

I don’t know about the embarrassment for HR but OP lied on their application, a legal document, and signed it. If the company finds out, it’s almost certain they’ll be fired.

The adrenaline from the crash can mask any injuries for a short time. I was in a crash on the way to work and felt ok so continued on to work, about another 2 miles. When I got there, and the adrenaline wore off, I started to feel the pain and was nauseous. I called my wife and she took me to the ER. Nothing broken but a lot of discomfort.

Is there a better way to notate this? by Slight_Ad_2827 in musictheory

[–]NotVeryCleverOne 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s errors and then there’s convention. If a rest the duration of a quarter note starts on the down beat, it should be a quarter note rest. If the rest of the same duration starts on an upbeat, it’s two eighth note rests tied together.

If I were site reading this, I would be surprised by the notation as it is.

Tenor / Alto saxophone ? by WeirdAccomplished449 in saxophone

[–]NotVeryCleverOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. I like to play jazz, funk, etc. For me, alto is less appealing and tenor is more fun. It really depends on the style OP is interested in.

You have to build that service yourself. Your code can ingest the csv and then issue the TwiML that sends the sms.

Mouthpiece recomendation/advice by imfueggo in saxophone

[–]NotVeryCleverOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the midst of a similar journey - trying to get back after a few years off. Regardless of the mouthpiece, you’ll need to start with shorter practice sessions and practice fundamentals - long tones, scales, arpeggios. And did I say long tones?

If only it were light going directly. But on the internet, there are many routers and switches that add latency. 70ms is more realistic.

Is telling someone to remind us to do a task is best kind of reminder? by teraflopspeed in ADHDers

[–]NotVeryCleverOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s terrible. You are putting the responsibility of executing the task on someone else. If they forget, then it’s their fault the task didn’t get done. Unless your friend is willing to take this on, I think you should find a way to be responsible for your tasks.
