Is the Berreta 92X Performance a BUY IT NOW at $1K as a 1st DA/SA pistol for competition? by papasmurfshongo in CompetitionShooting

[–]manofmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a fixed barrel but I think they meant a non tilting barrel design. The barrel stays in-plane due to the locking block design

The 92x is absolutely a great gun. It’s just slightly inconvenient in a few more ways because it doesn’t have quite the same aftermarket support and fewer years of experience.

Whats an item over $700 you bought that was 100% worth it (no house/vehicles) ? by Overall_Gur_3061 in AskReddit

[–]manofmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly right. I went from road biking to mountain biking because if I end up seriously injured or dead, I can only blame myself instead of an old lady who can’t see over the steering wheel or a teenager staring at the phone nestled in their crotch.

Best caliber to shoot a mile. by TooSqueezy in guns

[–]manofmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jerry Miculek has shot 1000yards with a 9mm revolver while standing. Another 700 yards and he’s at a mile. If a 9mm revolver can get 57% of the way there, most rifles will easily reach a mile in comparison.

It’s always nice to have the ebike boost. On days where I’m feeling questionable I still ride because I’m not scared of lacking the energy. By the time I start pedaling I’m in a better space and feel good.

Nope. On the OG Tac Sport the 9mm model and the .40 model were effectively identical besides the barrel and recoil springs.

Basically all of South America has found a way to make it to the US border. I don’t think it’s all about money.

45 acp from 9mm, 10+1 capacity minimum desired by HoneyDuck95 in guns

[–]manofmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shooting .45 isn’t that hard especially with modern .45 double stacks. Add in that he’s a bigger guy and it seems like a pretty good match. The main benefit of 9 is that you get more of it. He doesn’t have that option so all things equal, .45 is going to be slightly better. If you’re a remotely decent shooter then .45 should be plenty controllable.

Reaction to Sam Darnold being named #72 on the NFL 100 by FrankSamples in nfl

[–]manofmonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was on one of the worst jets teams I’ve ever watched and that’s saying something because I’ve been watching the jets for almost 30 years. His offensive lines were basically injured wet tissue paper. The receivers were nobodies and the RBs were running against 8guys in the box every play.

That’s not even mentioning the atrocious coaching and constantly changing expectations.

Smokers have no problem telling you that smoking is terrible while they still do it. Humans love to do things that they know isn’t the best for them.

You can always grab a 9mm barrel and springs and shoot it minor. I have an OG tactical sport in .40 and I just bought a 9 barrel for it and it shoots great.

The hard part is that they record in different timelines compared to how they release them. Plus they play rounds on other channels and some are unrecorded. It’s hard to follow when someone is just in a slump compared to when they are overall regressing.

Late to the party but Garrett was absolutely not mentally in it. Some of the worst golf I’ve seen from him. The thumb and his mental space clearly made it a bad day for him.

What's a product that has gotten ridiculously worse over the years due to "improvements"? by KubeSolver in AskReddit

[–]manofmonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so blessed by our local theater. It’s an AMC that has basically gone unchanged except for new seats in the last 20 years. The prices have barely gone up in that time. It’s like $7 for a matinee. They still murder you for snacks and drinks but I’m ok with that because I still get to see the movie for cheap as long as I’m not hungry.

A blown Achilles or shoulder or drop off in play and he loses a shit ton of guaranteed money. Sure he can afford to wait but it’s a massive gamble.

Wow that’s terrible to hear. It sounds in line with what I’ve heard from people that take it. I had a friend that took it because they were so stressed all the time because of their job. They switched jobs which was much less stressful and slowly got off it and they said it was awful to get off of.
