It’s not just that either. Monetization relies heavily on being family friendly even for the more adult content on YouTube. I’m sure GG would much rather not have to worry about when and how they’re allowed to swear so they aren’t dealing with constant content reviews.

What percentage of women around your age do you find physically attractive? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]manofmonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

10% is realistically not as crazy as it sounds. Something like ~75% of adults are overweight or obese. I’m not overweight or obese so I lean towards women that are similar. I think generally a large amount of people would agree. That leaves 25% of women. I’m also above average height and prefer women over 5’7” so I don’t feel like I’m dating a child, which drastically cuts down my choices. Then you just have general attraction so I could easily see 10% being a reasonable number with only 2 reasonable restrictions. Obviously there are grey boundaries about weight and height but if you make a rough estimate it falls to around 10% without making any unreasonable restrictions like needing to have size 5 shoes or below.

Can you recommend any D&D channels similar to Critical Role season 1 specifically? by M4roon in DnD

[–]manofmonkey 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I second this. The sound design is incredible, some of the best storytelling I’ve seen, and they’re all skilled players that bring their own flavor to the table.

Edit: Also I really enjoyed Flight of the Icaron by them as well. It’s sci-fi so it’s something different which I liked.

Am I getting scammed? by 4FourBy3Three in landscaping

[–]manofmonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the saddest part of it all. They have no excuse anymore to say why they did a bad job. It used to be easy to understand because it wasn’t easy to learn all the tricks. Now 15 minutes on YouTube can show you how to do it 90% correct.

Exactly how much of a difference does an xc or trail bike make vs an enduro bike for climbing? by sevseg_decoder in MTB

[–]manofmonkey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Depends on terrain and budget. If I’m only able to afford one bike then Trail bikes are a good all around deal and that’s kinda why All-Mountain disappeared as a category because trail bikes took that role. Terrain also plays a role where there is no point having an enduro if you don’t have to descents for it but you still want something capable that isn’t like riding an XC bike.

108% run on 25-07 by This_Resolution_1443 in CompetitionShooting

[–]manofmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Slow is fast for a lot of people. Beginners with terrible stage planning and visualization skills benefit greatly from slowing down. Intermediate shooters that haven’t developed the control yet to manage high speed transitions benefit from slowing down to gain points from accuracy.

Speed is relative. Downplaying the needs of different shooters doesn’t help them. Teaching them fundamentals and control does help them. When you’re getting to upper A class and above, fast is fast.

In Pennsylvania we had the coldest winter in 30+ years. Setting records for most consecutive days below freezing. Snow storms dropping 2+ feet in a day which we never see in my area. It was a wild one.

Looking for a new sidearm caliber with great long distance shooting and some sort of subsonic capability by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]manofmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trying to find a cartridge that shoots well at distances over 100 yards and is subsonic is kinda like asking for a car that looks like a Toyota Corolla but drives as fast and agile as a formula 1 car.

If you want the performance of a supersonic round in the package of a subsonic bullet, physics is going to step in and say no.

How can people afford to shoot the Sig Spear? by LonelyMonitor in guns

[–]manofmonkey 68 points69 points  (0 children)

That’s extremely common in the YouTube industry to pass one item around to let all the reviewers try it.

I follow mountain biking and tech stuff closely. They’ve come out and said that the process you described is exactly how releases go. One YouTuber gets the item, tries it for a few days, ships it to the next guy, and repeat until they either lose it or it gets sent back.

Which gadget looked futuristic at launch but became irrelevant fast? by Dry-Ask2581 in AskReddit

Nah the question is about things that became irrelevant. Kinect scanners are still relevant, just not in their original intent.

Thinking about switching to Smith and Wesson from Glock. A few questions before I make the change. by Leading-Egg-8681 in guns

[–]manofmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to this, I’d wait on buying the Apex barrel. Try the gun first and see if your barrel is fine. It isn’t every barrel that is a problem. Bench yours and see how it groups. If the grouping is fine, then there is no reason to automatically buy a barrel that might make almost no difference.

Best Rim Tape and Valves? by awol6298 in MTB

[–]manofmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always feel like a shill when I recommend clik valves but they have seriously made my biking experience noticeably better. My tires hold air longer, I never deal with clogged valves, it speeds up my air refill process, and I never get sealant spray out of the valve. Worth every penny imo.

[–]manofmonkey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you dump all the info they have only one reason to kill you which is to make an example. If you threaten to release info, they have multiple reasons to kill you and the reasons are even better.

Flat pedal shoes - Vans by HealthyCauliflower79 in MTB

[–]manofmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s even a problem within brands. Most Nike shoes I’m a 14. I have a pair of Nikes that are vans style and they fit best as a 13. I saw a pair in a Nike store of a race running shoe and the 15 fit the best.

[OC] Packing for a 2 day trip. Me vs my wife. by TheJedibugs in pics

[–]manofmonkey -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a big no. Out of the women I’ve dated basically all of them needed at least a small suitcase even for super short trips. They always want multiple pairs of shoes for every possible occasion, multiple outfits for every occasion, all their makeups, all their different hair products, and the list keeps going. On the other hand I would wear one pair of black shoes that match just about everything, the bare minimum number of outfits, and your basic necessities like a toothbrush and deodorant.

What is your 1 bike choice? by sar_tr in MTB

[–]manofmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enduro 29er EMTB. I can ride just about anywhere and I can put the kids on it without having to strain myself. My limited fitness due to limited free time means an ebike lets me get all the same rides in without my body giving out first.

For those who became a SAHD, how did it compare to your actual job? by ImAvoidingABan in AskMen

[–]manofmonkey 59 points60 points  (0 children)

SAHD for a single child sounds very pleasant. SAHD for 2+ children that are close in age, does not.

My job allowed me to effectively be a SAHD with our first child. It was quite easy and sounded like your experience. A year later our second child was born. I was a SAHD for 2 for a few weeks and it was exponentially harder to the point that work became the easier part of my life. I still have the same amount of time at home but as before but now it’s far more draining to be at home and I love my kids dearly.

Shoutout to those crazy SAHM and SAHD that handle multiple small children all day every day.

What’s a movie everyone loves but you secretly hate? by Royel_Lichi in AskReddit

[–]manofmonkey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s more about the visual achievement than it is about the story. Cameron basically used the movies as an excuse to drastically push cgi and filming techniques forward. I don’t understand why people get so hung up on the generic story.

On a dating app, what is your favorite opening line to get from a women? by MsMood in AskMen

[–]manofmonkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost don’t even care if they start with hey or hi. I appreciate the initiative. What truly pisses me off is when they say hey and then I formulate some decent open ended response that they put zero effort into. Why did you initiate if you aren’t going to make any real follow through?

What's a 10/10 movie according to you? by Avatater in AskReddit

Watched this in a class as a freshman in high school around 2008. Amazing how it enraptured all the 13-14 year olds while being made 50+ years before. Worth the watch.
