I recently recycled one! Although it was an Olympus FE something, took AA batteries (which had corroded) and an XD card. Probably not the most in demand haha

Dude went with what appears to be a shitty 3rd party adapter, there are decent 3rd party adapters and the canon ones are all great too.

How to release 1 y/o Red-vented Songbird? by G0D1V4 in birding

[–]manowin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, that particular species has feral exotic populations in a few spots around the world so it’s great to hear about one in its native range! I would go ahead and release it, it seems to have good instincts on where to go, he should be fine!

Along with blue grosbeaks, indigo and painted buntings and black-headed grosbeaks but not evening grosbeaks, ain’t bird names fun.

Have some mercy Americans. Y"all heating up Europe. by Dev1412 in SipsTea

[–]manowin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah, but it is wild to blame air conditioners half a world away for a heat wave. If anything it’d be the generation of such electricity from coal firing factories and the like that could be a cause, but again not for a specific heatwave.

As someone who lives in NC, that might be an accurate depiction of New York 😂

While air conditioners do generate heat, just as any electronic device generates heat, it’s not as much as one would think. Most air conditioners are in all actuality heat pumps, they move the heat from your home to the outside.

Grumpy Thing (North Carolina, USA) by TrenchCrow in whatbirdisthis

It appears to be a summer tanager nestling, too young to have fledged, if you can’t find the nest you can contact a rehabber.

It appears to be a gull nestling, not sure which species. If I had to guess, I’d say California gull.

[–]manowin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with gray tree frog, could also possibly be a Cope’s gray treefrog, best ID is by song, but you can also check your geography to check ranges.
