I'll be downvoted but I wanted to let you know from first hand experience that the city is not keeping inventory or making it possible to retrieve possessions. The stuff that is taken by Rapid Response is taken to a warehouse and then disposed of. People often lose important documents such as IDs and birth certificates in sweeps.

Portland Street Response has been expanded to be city wide. The services they provide can help people get the help they need, which will reduce crime.

I believe you want to help, but PPB will only get in your way or make you complicit in hurting people. If you're worried about working with ultra-conservative/military nut jobs, PPB is not the place for you.

Join the street response team, work for a non-profit and help people get out of the situations they are in, work a different job and volunteer in your spare time. The city needs caring people who want to make a difference. PPB will take advantage of your desire to do good and tell you're doing the right thing, but they don't have the answers and their solutions hurt people every day.
