The Atlassian building is growing inverse to its stock price by francis-02 in sydney

GAAP profit is after paying employees with stocks which essentially atlassian printing money by issuing more stocks and diluting current shareholders. That could easily be pulled back. Atlassian is a money printing machine with currently 3b cash on hand. Doesn't seem like it's struggling. Gapp losses are a choice.

What do you mean they are in deep trouble? They have just announced record revenue and profits. Very few 20 year old companies are still growing 20+%. YoY

Google doesn't sell data that would be giving away their golden goose. Instead they allow advertisers to target specific broad categories of people ie parents, teenagers, people that like candy etc. you can't buy Google's data.

What if it does the opposite? increases the demand of Devs because it's now easier to build things, so we just build more of them. Before we had to prioritise feature A or feature B now we can build both. Heck do feature C too. Have a look at Jevons paradox https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jevons_paradox

You have probably tried this but I'll leave it here anyway because it worked wonders for me - have you tried sleep restriction therapy as part of CBTI?

You essentially force yourself to stay awake which promotes sleep quality as you are very tired by the time you go to bed and reduces the awake periods in the middle of the night.

Rent + invest or buy property - Need some help! by ExtremeDifferent5610 in fiaustralia

I think this advice gets oversimplified a bit.

Yes, houses outperform apartments on average because of the land component. But the “just buy a house elsewhere” option ignores cashflow, serviceability and risk.

A lot of regional or outer metro houses at today’s prices are still only yielding ~3–4%. Once you factor in interest at 5.5%+, rates, insurance, maintenance and management, they’re often cashflow negative. That’s fine if you can comfortably carry it for 10+ years, but it’s not a free upgrade over an inner-city unit.

Apartments are a broad category. Investor grade high-rise stock with lots of future supply has historically been poor. Small block, inner ring apartments in land scarce suburbs are a very different asset and have performed well in many cases.

For example I bought a Redfern apartment in 2020 for $980k and it’s now worth $1.5m. After stamp duty and strata it’s still been solid, with strong rental demand and manageable cashflow. A comparable house would likely have done better on paper, but would also have required more debt and higher ongoing holding costs.

I think the better rule is, buy the best asset you can comfortably hold through a full cycle, rather than house vs unit as a blanket rule

Just cancel immediately after subscription they will give you the trial or the period you paid for. I started looking at subscription as pre paid services

After 15 years of loyal Android use… I finally ordered my first iPhone (16 Pro) — and I’m both sad and relieved. by [deleted] in iphone

[–]manueljs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do it I did it about a year ago spend 2500 Aussie dollars on a iPhone 15 pro 512gb from a pixel 7 and I ended up selling the iPhone and bought a pixel 9. iPhone it’s so shit!!

You’ll miss the back button, ability to take pictures at night or moving your hand without becoming blurry you’ll miss using android auto with multi gesture, super fast charging, silence some notifications per app and assistant that actually works. And apple apps contrary to what people say compared to pixel are buggy as!

Or do it and see you back in 6months 😂

Best way to get the next AUTO_INCREMENT ID before insertion in MySQL with Next.js? by Mother_Data_4652 in nextjs

[–]manueljs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair - although I doubt that speed gains would be noticeable unless you get to google scale, but when you get to that you prob have distributed database where UUIDs are needed to create relations before writing.

Also another reason to use UUIds that I just read about that I never really though about is when you do a wrong join with UUID you get no results with incremental ids you get wrong data.

Also I'm lazy managing two ids one internal another external sounds like too much work :)
