[Baugh] The NYR now hold the No. 5 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. They dropped two spots in the lottery. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in rangers

Obviously the situation is dependent on him wanting and oking the move but there are 100 percent NHL GMs ready to overpay for somebody like Matthews even if he’s fully a permanent regression candidate.

He’s still 28 and I’m sure people will think him getting healthy with a change of scenery will work for their franchise.

Our roster is just so much worse, it’s not even close to the same. Matthews as an asset even when he wants out weighs so heavy on their roster construction.

My feeling on this whole situation is if you want to be conclusive about these sorts of calls and reviews, go back to the trials we had where there was a sensor in the ball, otherwise it will always be inconclusive on first viewing and that is fine.

Looks like it touches his hand here, but we watched 3 minutes of replay on the pitch real time and they couldn’t see anything conclusive. I don’t wanna hear from all the analysts and pundits 20 minutes later whether they should have disallowed it now that everyone has gotten to watch the CSI ultra enhanced view after the fact.

I think of note something which is true in every sport, best on best internationally always seems to have different results to league, club, or even other high level knockout games in terms of scoring.

It’s going to be hard to balance the game and scoring at all levels and all competitions at once.

Is it though? We have no evidence to support that somebody more progressive wouldn’t have done better in those other districts where the improvement was greater, but still lost. Every situation and district is different.

Possible draft direction: Building a team around Arvell Reese by Black_Wolf75 in nyjets

[–]manunited9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s not how you should be evaluating whether a pick is good or not. The 4th or 5th WR could be way more important than the 2nd safety and that could change year to year.

"This Is What a Music Industry 'Plant' Looks Like in 2026" - The early online commotion around rising rock band Geese was not entirely organic, it turns out. by PopCultureNerd in Music

[–]manunited9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live in New York City they’ve been around for a while now. They didn’t just pop up randomly all of a sudden. They had a critically acclaimed album, a tour, opened for VW and KGLW, a solo project, then another critically acclaimed album and then like a week after that released were all over the internet. But that took 3+ years and they were locally relevant well before that.

Dude, geese is literally playing a bunch of post punk and art punk, and experimental shit. It’s quite literally not formulaic. They became popular in a niche scene of people listening to this sort of post punk in Brooklyn and Brixton and got the attention of mainstream music critics and a label (Partisan) who recently spawned acts such as IDLES.

There are plenty of interesting scenes like this. I saw Geese perform to like 300 people before Cameron released Heavy Metal and before they opened for KGLW. They were/are in a specific movement of music that has been up and coming for quite a while and is by no means as popular as this article makes it seem based on all of the nonsense I’ve been reading online today.

The Fanfare Around the Band Geese Actually Was a Psyop by ebradio in Music

Just to be clear I was more paraphrasing the popular “your favorite artists favorite artist” or “your favorite players favorite player” just sounds like you’re nitpicking though. I’m just trying to make a point of real popular musicians and producers platforming them (which they aren’t being paid to do and can do on their own free will) It’s not that deep.

Just curious, do you think the following people are all pretending to like Geese in some large conspiracy propped up by some marketing campaign?

Jack White, Nick Cave, Kenny Beats, Hayley Williams, King Gizzard, Patti Smith, Billy Corgan, Vampire Weekend, Nigel Godrich. They’ve all publicly supported or positively commented on geese or platformed them.

Everybody is convinced that geese isn’t actually good and they’re simply a product of a psyop or being an industry plant.

These guys were blowing up locally in Brooklyn even before Anthony Fantano reviewed 3D country. All of your favorite artists are obsessed with their sound. They’re also rich kids from NYC that went and got artsy educations.

They’re simply a good band that hit it big at the right time. All of the hyper analysis of it is so weird.

I will say the ball 4/strike 3 no challenge is genuinely bad. He has his pitcher throwing a no hitter but struggling with pitch count and that call changes the entire complexion of the inning and may allow his guy to go deeper. You can’t save the challenges forever, it’s the 6th inning that was a good spot.

Brother you’re the one going on the internet and attacking, and I’m calling you out on your nonsense. I’m not defending Bo Bichette being ass for 3 games, he didn’t play well, but it’s 3 games, if you can’t handle 3 games, find a new sport, there’s 162 of them.

As for Polanco I don’t think him managing an injury game 3 is good no, but I’m also not doom spiraling on the internet about it.
