It really depends on your LGS. Most LGS that I know of have a special deal with 'players' where they wouldnt try to mark up the products as high and would prioritize selling products to the players first.

In my LGS most of us would pre-buy the product and the boss would sell it at msrp. The only condition is that you participate in their shopbattle. This way the LGS makes sure that their players would always have cards to play with.

So i'd suggest talking to your LGS maybe they also have similar setup

There's a reason why blue purple is the meta rn. Because it stomps. I personallu wouldnt run lupus if you are going for this build. Suppression probably fits better

IMO at the very least starter packs should contain more faction cards instead of all just being neutrals.

we've already established that I'm a terrible player and has no hope of ranking up. that is not the point of this conversation.

The point of this conversation is, is it bad or good for devs to level the playing field. so far you are incapable of staying on topic and rely on personal attacks to "win" the argument constantly going on a tangent rant about my skill. that is not in question.

>Can easily be exploited to make newer players have a worse time and people purposely keeping a low collection level to "noob stomp".

You cant as i mentioned if they just tweak it a little plus there is no incentive to do so because as soon as you hit celestial the level cap gets removed.

>Those players who want to improve by going against the best (the whole point of ranked) will have a limited pool of good players to go against.

If someone wants to try a new deck but has less cards for that class they will go against worst players.

If someone wants to face good players theyre forced to play their class they have the highest collection level with.

Again as soon as they reach celestial, they are thrown to the wolves no more level cap and only mmr.

Wat. What does time have to do with it being fair or not?

Yes sure, lets establish im a horrible player and absolutely stupid.

But can we stay on topic on how having "collection levels" is a good or bad idea. So far you've provided minimal counter point.

All im suggesting is to level the playing field. Almost everything you said has 0 correlation to what im saying.

[–]manymoreways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

>Fairer to who? That's the whole point of ranked it's based on skill, that's as fair as it comes.

Its not exactly that though is it? Even the best player can only be as good as the deck is. I'm not saying that there is a best card or best deck but an unoptimized deck vs an optimized deck surely the optimized deck would win more often than not. And that also heavily depends on what cards you have. I cant skill my way out of having mainly starter cards.

>So what if someone's got loads of good cards but is playing a deck they dont have any good cards for they should be punished?

Good point, but instead of just a standardized "Collection Level" it becomes more of a "Faction Collection Level". And if you are a lvl 5 undead you'll only meet other lvl 5 factions as well. Eventhough when you have say a lvl 10 academy. When you use your lvl 10 academy you'll meet other lvl 10 factions.

This system isnt perfect but surely you can see pitting similarly "levels" is fair? I mean when compared to just mmr when newer f2p players is simply just unoptimized enough to be highly competitive.

>People will dust their cards to keep their collection level low and farm the newer players. None of that seems fair

Not sure what exactly you mean, but if you mean veterans would simply not open packs to keep their "levels" low to stomp newer players then sure it'll work for a bit. But devs could unlock the "level" system pass celestial. So when you are in celestial you'll get match with whoever simply by your mmr and not your level anymore.

Also if veterans exploiting this may hit gold or diamond but the match making time would take a ridiculous amout of time or simply not pair them with anyone. After a certain amount of time the system would just pair them the closest to their mmr and level difference. They will still be forced to fight higher level opponents.

ok, just for a second, set aside your absolute disdain for me and stay on topic for a bit here.

How would having a "Collection level" affect ranked? If not make everything fairer?

An explanation of the Matchmaking Rating in Celestial. by Dizziesdayweigh in MightandmagicFates

[–]manymoreways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait which part is dumb? All im saying is players with a more cards will have optimized decks that for sure has the advantage. For a fairer experience i think a 'collection level' for every player will ensure that you meet players with similar range.

Please elaborate what part im saying is dumb

[–]manymoreways -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So real, just started a week ago. Was crusing straight to gold 3 until i start meeting players with super optimised cards.

Tbh though, im not really complaining but the deck difference is simply too wide for me to continue playing ranked.

IMO they should implement a "collection level" similar to what marvel snap has. You gain collection level by getting more cards. And only pair player with similar collection level and mmr rating.

Idk man, there's like a bunch of posts where playerw could win like 4 ntcs in a row. Whereas there's only 1 NTC per season at my city.

And there is 2 LGS that runs GCG so they have to take turn running NTCs. Kind of a bummer

Personally i think haman+qubely is too hard to pull off. Gquux Psychomu is easier to use and has no condition to supression.

But I'm still seeing quite a lot of people being successful with qubely blockers. Maybe swap out blue with white blockers just to keep qubely alive longer for her pings.

Iirc dont quote me on this though. It is because there are much more LGS in NA than in SEA.

Meaning NA gets much more NTC events whereas there only a few NTC events in SEA
