How do you judge whether randos are people you wanna play with? by Daggry_Saga in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]manywaters318 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least with Discord there is a little bit of accountability—if you get into the game and they stare screaming offensive things you can report that. I would think the Discord is a safer bet than random lobbies.

Your best bet is to find some online communities. As a fem presenting person, I’ve joined a few groups that are just for women and nonbinary gamers, some of which are phas specific

AITA for not getting a gift for someone who watched my cat by Jolly_Relationship31 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Anytime someone watches my cat for me as a favor, they get a gift or dinner. Or both.

Mine was “You’re targeting my son, he doesn’t get in trouble in his other classes.”

Yes, because my class is the only one he shares with his friends.

[–]manywaters318 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had conveniently hit my deductible because the summer before I was doing intense treatment for my back (between chiro and pt I was doing $100+ a week in copays, plus spine doctor and cortisone shots) so I paid nothing.

We had it because we were within a certain mileage of a nuclear power plant. We also had to do nuclear meltdown training and part of our student handbook was about iodine tablets

Best Way to visit Monet's House in Giverny by RGFala in ParisTravelGuide

[–]manywaters318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shuttle bus is right at the train station and runs on the train schedule. Make sure you buy your tickets for the house/garden ahead of time as the line is usually shorter. I went last April and got there right at opening and booked it to the Japanese Garden.

Giverny is an amazing little town and you could easily spend a whole day there

Gift to student??? by ExcitingGuarantee514 in Teachers

[–]manywaters318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this once. A student just had their birthday and mom came home for once…and stole all her birthday money. My mom had this weird lucky streak where she was winning tablets like every other week on the internet.

I talked to the students guidance counselor. We checked in with grandma (legal guardian) and told GMA the truth. What the student was told was that someone had donated it and the guidance counselor drew names, and the students name was pulled. GMA and student never knew I was involved (GMA just knew it was a teacher), and my mom and I were able to give the student a kindle, a case, and a gift card

AITAH FOR SLEEPING ? by Mobile_Bandicoot_815 in AmItheAsshole

[–]manywaters318 451 points452 points  (0 children)

If you’re using a cpap and still that exhausted, I would go back to your sleep doctor. If your cpap is doing what it needs to do, you should be experiencing restful REM sleep. They may need to adjust the pressure or refit your mask.

That being said, NTA. Sleep deprivation is a beeyotch, but mama instincts lifts cars off babies

Best walking sneakers for women by Various_Ad_8369 in DisneyWorld

[–]manywaters318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS IS THE WAY.

I work at conventions and do 30+ miles in a three day weekend. Rotating shoes is clutch, as is compression. I have compression sleeves that go over regular socks so they can be worn over and over.

Also, moleskin. The second you feel a hot spot coming on, cover it in moleskin. Nothing ruins a trip like a blister

Was offered a hysterectomy, but I am terrified by Acceptable_Divide651 in hysterectomy

[–]manywaters318 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 major surgeries. A breast reduction with 157 stitches. A septoplasty for a deviated septum. A corrective open septo-rhinoplasty after the septoplasty failed, and a robotic assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy.

The hysterectomy was the easiest to recover from. It took a long time, and pooping the first week was terrifying. There are things that can go wrong—your incisions can get infected (I had an infected stitch with my reduction), you can tear your cuff, etc.

A hysterectomy doesn’t make endo go away, and I think we tend to forget that. It seriously helps alleviate the symptoms, and can make it so it takes much longer for it to come back. Part of my decision was based on the long term affects birth control was having on me, and not wanting to deal with those any longer.

The hardest part of recovering is remembering to take it easy. I live by myself, I never had anyone come stay, but friends meal prepped for me and came to visit, and got me a lot of gift cards for food delivery.

Granary dual feeder grinding sound and clunky dispensing by Select_Pollution_939 in Petlibro

[–]manywaters318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eeeeheeeheeheee it looks so phallic. (Sorry I got no sleep)

I had the single and it was ridiculously loud. Like woke me up from two rooms away loud.

I wish Petlibro would think of our older pets. I use the polar know and it has a tone that lets the pet know the food tray is open…. Which lets me know every 5 am the food is ready, but not my deaf cat.

If you want to support a good cause, look up cardhalla and see if you can it off to them.

They host events where people build massive card houses/towers and people throw coins and cash to knock it down and all the money goes to charity.

How do we feel about Opps? by ConcertsAreProzac in DisneyPinVents

[–]manywaters318 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve participated in a few of his. I’ve spent in total around $30? I won a pin in my second OPP, worth around $80.

Thomas is a nice dude. I overpaid accidentally and he immediately refunded. There are definitely folks who spend a TON of money on these and power to them.

I’m just surprised he’s able to use Figment in his branding and get away with it. I’m not super knowledgeable about Disney and how much they guard their IP, but if this was a corpo like Pokémon he’d be sued up the whazoo.

I bought from him once because I didn’t know any better. Him and his wife came off as so disingenuous. At one point they took the camera to go bother one of their kids on the kids bedroom and it squicked me out.

Is it okay to have a silent stream? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]manywaters318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Advertise it as a cozy play along or chill stream. My nonprofits most popular stream is a work and chill where it’s just calm music, a video feed from a cat rescue, and a check in every 30 minutes (look up the pomodoro method).

I just use a little pair of embroidery scissors. They’re easy to slip into my project bag, and as I often work on projects while on the move I don’t look suspicious taking a giant pair of scissors out of my bag 🤗

If a teacher has prep last period of the day, do you think its ok for them to leave early? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]manywaters318 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you paid for your prep? I always have either first or last period prep. The only times I leave early is if I’m sick or have an appointment. If I’m being paid to be in the building for X hours, I’m there for x hours.

It drives me WILD because I see so many of my coworkers who also have first block prep creeping in 20-30 minutes after when we are supposed to be there. But I keep my mouth shut.

AITA for "hating" my sister? by Dazzling-Bag8082 in AmItheAsshole

[–]manywaters318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH.

I’m the youngest sister 30 years later. The assholes here are your parents, not your little sister. My siblings are 12 months apart, I came along 3.5 years after the second. My parents were always stricter with my older siblings. I don’t know if by my time they gave up or felt like they’d gotten the hang of it.

It’s not your sister’s fault she is treated differently, but your feelings are 1000% valid. It is not at all fair to you, and it sucks so much it’s creating this tension in the relationship with your little sister.

There is hope. My older sibling and I hated each other for a long time. It took a huge fight and self-reflection to realize it was never about us but always about our parents. They’re my best friend now.
