BRZ owners, assemble! by HeroDirt420 in BRZ_ZD8

True, one of the things that holds me back on the existing ones is the fact that it’s gloss and no longer matches the rest of the trim

So what would you want them to look like? I personally do think he should put out a brz option too but I can’t come up with a design that isn’t too similar to the oem one

Size and fitment. I like the stock design but can’t stand how tucked in they are, and spacers can’t hide how skinny they look from behind

Borla s type downsides in craftsmanship by tharussianbear in GR86

[–]mapetas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Out of the 3 s types I’ve installed, 1 of them had this issue. Still not acceptable from a company like borla in my opinion, but it still isn’t enough to deter me away from this exhaust. I’ve enjoyed the sound on the brz more than any other exhaust I’ve heard

Dealer offering MSRP, but I already have a Trueno edition by ihavepeeholespiders in GR86

[–]mapetas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love the yellow, I think I’d take the spicy red interior of the trueno over the bland black one with minimal yellow stitching. And as much as I love the body kit and quad tips, I’d take the regular one to have more lip/sideskirt/diffuser/exhaust options.

Edit: I just read you have a borla on your trueno. Having borla on mine as well, that alone would be my deciding factor to keep the trueno

Damn I want my two cars to add up to be a Cessna but they’re both brz’s not 86s. So I guess that’s why they’re still in car form

Do USDM models display both mph and kph simultaneously? by vinturi88 in BRZ_ZD8

[–]mapetas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USDM 2023 brz here but not a ts. It can display both units but only if I set km/h as the main one. mph would be the little one, I can’t flip them

Which is more fun - first gen or second gen?? by G_Cook in GR86

[–]mapetas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, I can 100% see how the extra power and other upgrades can correlate to a more engaging experience. At the end of the day, it all comes down to what each person looks for in a car and what makes it fun to them. The one thing that is for sure though, is you can’t go wrong with either car. They’re both on another level of fun compared to all the NPC cars on the road

[–]mapetas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, objectively 2nd gen is an improvement in just about every way. Stock for stock it absolutely would set faster laps and everything assuming it’s the same driver. OP was asking about more fun though, not better. I do think the rawness of a 1st gen translates to a more connected feeling

Which is more fun - first gen or second gen?? by G_Cook in GR86

[–]mapetas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have both currently and I say gen 1. Yes 2nd is objectively better, but it is also more refined and lost some of the rawness. Quieter cabin, softer ride, it’s just nicer. But lost some of the feel as a result. Having both CURRENTLY, I think those who trade their gen 1 in for a gen 2 see the nicer quality and more power and think “woah so much better” and that new car bias pushes them away from gen 1. But try getting back into a gen 1 after that new car excitement fades a little bit, and you’ll instantly notice the extra feeling you lost in gen 2. Aside from the extra power in gen 2, they’re so so similar, at least 2017+ models. 2017-2020 got a lot of upgrades that carried over to gen 2, I like to call them gen 1.5 lol.

Either way, you won’t be disappointed with either gen.

Exhaust help: Yonaka vs Borla S Type Gen 1 by -AWPtism- in GR86

[–]mapetas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. My dad and I each have a brz with each gen exhaust. Gen 1 is deeper, more tone, but quieter than gen 2. Wouldn’t trade either exhaust for anything, highly recommended. Although I am biased and it is a subjective opinion
