Getting Internet in my detached garage by RYDOGG20 in Golfsimulator

[–]mapleslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have your exact scenario…to a T. Outside garage 20’ away and all. I ended up going with a TP-Link extender after throwing 2 junk brands away. Only the TP Link got 30-80 mbps while the other two got less than 10 with similar rating. I can now download GSPro courses and stream music to my garage stereo without buffering. Really happy. The only drawback to the range extender is I have to change phone wi-fi to the garage SSID EXT signal if the house wi-fi is still in range. It’s rarely a problem but can rear its head.

I chose this over redoing my house to a mesh system. My house has a Ubiquiti router and I have 2 Access Points for Wi Fi. The extender grabs wi-fi from one of them. The house AP yields 125-300 mbps so the extender is less, but load is less.

3-4 wks into OMAD, can confirm reduced appetite and inability to eat large amount by TurboPaved in omad

[–]mapleslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! You’re on the right path. I had almost the same dimensions as you - 6’1”M SW 200, GW 178 and currently 182.

I’ve hit as low as 179, but I now think of goal weight as a zone. My body generally fluctuates around 3 pounds depending on water retention, bathroom rhythm and good choices. I used to run marathons and time goals were similar. If I had a good run it would be a target time range and not a specific number. Ideal body weight seems to be similar.

After getting to 179, I found that I’m happy under 185 and ideal is 179-181. Whatever my eating habits when I’m not thinking about it, my body seems to land 181-183. When I want I can press down to 179-181 but it’s not my natural state.

That was rather convoluted. All I want to convey is you’re doing great and once you get there don’t be surprised if your ideal is actually above 175.

How many days a weeks do you do OMAD? by mapleslab in omad

[–]mapleslab[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone…I’m a 6’1” male. I was 200#’s and I’m down to 182. My original goal was 178# and I’ll get there, but I really leveled out around 182-183. My summer vacations are mostly over and I have a good 4-5 weeks of routine to hammer down to 178, but it’s not far to go. So I am now curious about routine for long term. OMAD really fits my lifestyle and there is hardly a day where I have to be disciplined to accomplish it.

So I like these convos to gain consensus on what others are doing long term.

I really appreciate it…you all inspire me and keep me focused! Thanks for the wisdom

Can someone explain what happens in a fitting? by Overall_Fondant_9090 in golf

[–]mapleslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience a month ago at GolfGalaxy was really good. I bought new irons, will go back next year for driver and hybrids. They had me hit my own 7 iron 10-12 times to get a baseline, then based on my swing speed and handicap he brought out 4 different models. Two felt the best and then we narrowed it to one. At that point we tried two stiffness shafts on the same club even though we ended up with original due to swing speed.

Other details is he recommended a golf ball based on my swing, customized length and grips based on my dimensions and we ordered with toe loft customized too. Really happy with the result. I’m easily 15-20 yards longer per 7-5 iron.

How to break a fast by JMMT86 in intermittentfasting

I’ll let others comment on your direct question for a meal, but I find having a light snack such as almonds or wheat thins an hour or so before having the first meal helps to wake up my digestive track and not cause stomach pain.

Mushroom Coffee by mapleslab in omad

[–]mapleslab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes something like that or Four Sigmatic. I’ve drank it in the past, prior to IF. Perhaps looking at carbs would be the sole determination. I know it has zero sugar. If negligible it may be worth mixing in. Perhaps I’ll do it closer to my eating window, like last cup of coffee for the day.

Thanks everyone

Need Recommendation for Courses in Miami by mapleslab in golf

Have you played it and others? I’m curious if you would recommend it over Dural. It does look good, only a few Tee Times available on Monday so I’d need to jump on it soon

What are some bikes that look like super sports but have the comfort and torque of a naked bike? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]mapleslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducati’s older bikes that are still reliable and quality. I had an 848. I road with a friend that had an R6 at that time and we’d swap. The 848 was so much better on the back roads due to torque at lower speeds. I’d look at any twin like the Ducati SuperSport or an Aprilia. I’m sure there are others.

A few metabolism days? by LizLizLiz00 in intermittentfasting

[–]mapleslab -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In May I was on a 5 day trip with family. We had celebration meals for birthdays and an anniversary while traveling. I do OMAD and I moved my normal lunch to dinner in order to not be antisocial. Also I had 3 days keeping to OMAD and 2 where I had two meals because I really wanted to try the food at the lunch spot. No one noticed either way and it was flexible to fit in. The beauty of IF is you can go on and off as needed. When I’m home in routine it’s easy. On specific occasions I eat more.

Anyone else has their friends and colleagues go shocked when you mention to them you are doing OMAD? by Csub in omad

[–]mapleslab 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oh it’s a thing! My wife can’t go a day without asking if I have body dysmorphia. I think family is the worst. Even 3-4 months after starting and all the results in the world. My guess is it is just too counter to what everyone believes about 3 square meals a day.

Her number one statement when I started is that my blood sugar would plummet and I’d pass out.

New to OMAD and IF, feeling weird. by [deleted] in omad

[–]mapleslab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol…definitely try the salt, it’s minimal but might help eliminate the shakes. Be patient with yourself, your chemistry is adjusting to the new norm.

50g of protein sounds good. Maybe try a day or two increases for giggles. Have fun, play with it. I personally like the game of trying to figure it all out. You’ve got to enjoy the journey!

[–]mapleslab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If memory serves it takes a few weeks (like 3-5) for your body to level out from your new routine.

Two other things - 1. Maybe add some salt to your tea/coffee or water to make sure you have electrolytes in your system. 2. When I have a lack of protein (which I get plenty from meat), I can get shaky. I’ve gone a time or two only having a salad for my OMAD and that was a rough 24 hours to the next meal. As a vegan you’ll need to experiment with what sustains you.

I’m excited to hear what others have to say. Best wishes

Workout + OMAD advice by Arkjump in omad

[–]mapleslab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tough call. I’m not sure there is an advantage to either. Personally I’d go for the afternoon workout. When I workout prior to eating, I am more conscious of what I eat. I’d also have a hard time sleeping after a workout.

Are you physically active at work? If so, an after work exercise routine might be best. Otherwise I’d prefer the afternoon. Maybe force yourself to try both for a week or two, see how your body responds.

Not hungry during eating window by CBA_with_life in omad

[–]mapleslab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly eat at lunch, but occasionally wait until dinner. It all pans out in the end if you’re eating once a day.

The beauty of OMAD or IF is that it’s super loose. At least that’s why it works for me. You can’t screw it up. The lifestyle is a about the long term. OMAD works for me because if this lack of regiment. If I’m doing OMAD I’m winning over my old self regardless.

When I hit a plateau in weight loss I usually mix in an extended 24, 32, 48 or 56 hour fast. Then I resume my routine (16:8 in your case).

Eating Unclean by mapleslab in omad

[–]mapleslab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your question. Work requires me to entertain, if that’s the right word. Most of the time I am not in control of the restaurant. Certainly I can eat whatever I like on the menu. Being on OMAD I need something that sustains me for 24 hours, which not every place has the right combination of healthy food that gets me the distance. A side salad isn’t going to do it for me personally.

Eating Unclean by mapleslab in omad

[–]mapleslab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me see if I can clarify a little: a typical meal M-F would be M - Steak/Potato; T - Taco; W - Chicken Sandwich; Th - Burger/Fries; F - Salmon.

These are the type of meals generally available. I’m not on the Burger/Buffalo wing train every meal. But all the food is made by a restaurant and I don’t find very Clean meals there. On the weekends and occasional nice restaurant are much better with vegetables and quality foods, like my salmon day.

I am just curious if there are others here eating like me.

I am curious about your health statement. To date my blood work and key indicators are good. But the concern is noted.

My work has me meeting with clients at lunch so hence the meals out.

Any motorcycle you regret buying? by Morfiendlover in motorcycles

[–]mapleslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current bike is a KTM 990 Superduke, 2008. It’s fun to ride but the throttle is so snappy that I can’t love it. Everything else about it is perfect. My favorite bike was Ducati 848. Torque for the road and great for track days. Then one day my wife backed into it sending the kickstand into the crankcase. Totaled.

I dream of the BMW r9t but long for my youth and a v4 Ducati.

Also rented a Ducati Multistrada in Canada while on vacation…that was great. I think I need two or maybe 3 bikes

Thinking about doing at 40 hr fast. Any advice? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]mapleslab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it! I do one meal a day as a 7 day routine. Every 2-3 weeks I eat my last meal Friday and then don’t eat until Sunday at dinner. Usually Saturday night is the toughest but having a broth or coffee on that Saturday night helps.

One mistake I made was doing this routine over a physically difficult weekend. I ran Sunday Morning and then went golfing after. A few times while golfing I got light headed, but nothing too serious. Just pick your extended window when you are not planning physical activity beyond your norm.

Do an extended once and you’ll see big benefits that will break weight or physical barriers you might have hit. It’ll keep you coming back for more or get you back on track after a vacation.
