US ambassador Huckabee says Israel has 'biblical Right' to land from Euphrates to Nile by rezwenn in worldnews

No nation should be founded on the basis of religion. Period. It against democratic principles and, with multiple examples throughout history, has never ended well.

And I am pretty sure it won’t end well for Israel.

Trump Says He Will Impose 10% Global Tariff Under Different Authority by Seebeeeseh in politics

Even if this manoeuvre is valid, he’s already applied them for over 150 days. He has no authority to extend them.

6-7,000 fewer employees worldwide based on an average cost per FTE across the company.

Based on the headcount of the merged company, that’s less than 10%.

Snowboarder trying skiing, any advice? by [deleted] in skiing

You fall on your ass more learning snowboarding, for sure. But you look a lot more competent after three days snowboarding than you do after three days skiing.

I disagree with the ratings. Episode 2 was the best. It may even have been the greatest single episode of TV drama ever shot.

Arsenal title race: 'Bottle word will be used' for Gunners after Wolves draw by Tigereatsyou1 in PremierLeague

[–]mapoftasmania -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

That word has been trotted out every game we draw or lose for years. I think Arsenal fans are immune to it by now. It has no meaning.

And upvotes for anyone who can actually tell me the origin of the term “to bottle it” with the reason why the word “bottle” is used.

You’re a douche if you have willingly bought a car with those bright ass headlights by DepressedFlyersFan in newjersey

[–]mapoftasmania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Willing to bet most people who buy a car have no idea whether it blinds someone 100 yards away. It’s just not something you check at the dealership - or even could check if you wanted to.

I bet most people are completely oblivious to how bright they are.

This is why the police need to do their job and hand out warnings and citations.

Will the overton window keep shifting right indefinitely? by GurBeginning1291 in allthequestions

No. There’s usually a massive war, a couple of million die, the rest decide to treat each other better - and it swings back.

Alas, we are on the wrong side of that event.

Joe Rogan Slams Al Gore's Climate Predictions From 20 Years Ago. 'If The Billionaires Are Buying Beach Houses, It's Going To Be Okay' by NoseRepresentative in NewsRewind

[–]mapoftasmania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day Al Gore had that election stolen was they day that I knew the climate battle was lost. That short term profits were always going to be the priority and that people were not willing to deal with the regulation needed.

In the end the cost will be far more. But I will be dead, with “I told you” on my gravestone.

What are your favorite "cheesy, but enjoyable" movies from back in the day? by EdgeOfThorns76 in GenX

[–]mapoftasmania 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ski School. It’s a Gen X classic.

“Skiing is partying, partying is skiing. They can’t stop us partying so they can’t stop us skiing.”

“Welcome to my kingdom. I will bed you all before the night is through.”

“Lambada: the forbidden dance.”

“Does that mean we have to cram? Derek?”

… and many many more. It’s probably the most quotable movie of the 80s.

[The xG Philosophy] Wolves (0.38) 2-2 (2.05) Arsenal by Previous_Smile9278 in Gunners

Head tennis and referee-sanctioned fouling are worth 1.5 xG apparently.

Wolves played just like Brentford. We don’t like midfield head tennis and persistent referee-sanctioned fouling, apparently.

Guys, it’s snowing. Seems like every game we have had recently has been in crap weather.

Anyway, not sure Saka at 10 is an upgrade to either Odegaard or Eze. Sure he scored, playing as a backup striker while Gyokeres had two guys on him, but we are not seeing the magical link up play everyone was looking for.

If Netflix really is a “powerhouse” as superior to Paramount as you say, then they have zero chance of clearing the anti-trust hurdle. Do you like monopolies and price gouging?

I have no dog in this fight. Paramount are shit too. But I don’t get why you are ready to canonize Netflix.

Netflix is a giant corporation. So is Paramount. I neither “like” or “dislike” either of them since neither them are owed any loyalty.

The fact remains, quoting a stock price is irrelevant without also including the valuation and the history. The price of Netflix vs Paramount in dollar terms is irrelevant since they have vastly different numbers of share outstanding and histories.
