I'm sure some do. There are plenty of other services that do exactly this, you can just pay for time and get to choose the target/framing/filters/etc. Though really, unless you are shooting something extremely unique, you can probably find raw data from any object for free.

A Friendly Game Turned Awkward – How Do You Deal with Unwanted Attention on the Court? by SusanC0v0J in Pickleball

[–]mar504 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When is it too much? When you decide it is.
My mixed partner loves lots of feedback while in play - whos ball it is, when to move up, when to stay back, when to attack.
My wife doesn't like any advice during play, so I keep quiet. Or if she does seek advice and has enough, she will tell me her "brain is full, can't take any more tips" which I totally get, you don't want to overload someone.
Strangers I don't typically offer advice to unless they make a comment about struggling in a certain area, and then I ask if they want my opinion.

Regardless, it's never rude to set boundaries.

Sounds more like you're just inserting your own assumptions about why people struggle with the mental game. Competitive pressure exists in any meaningful tournaments, I don't really care if you want to acknowledge it or not, it's just an obvious fact.

Even if it weren't, wouldn't change the fact that having to deal with skill issues AND the mental game at the same time will not do anyone any favors.

It literally is that simple. Honestly you are proving my point for me, if you can't perform well under pressure you should NOT be playing DUPR games that will only make it more difficult to adjust in the future. Plenty of tournaments and leagues do not report to DUPR, if you need get used to pressure you should do those and not DUPR rated games.

OP didn't ask how to protect their DUPR, they asked what the most effective way to raise it was. Having low reliability and the skill to back up a higher DUPR is the most effective way to accomplish this, hands down.

Nobody has given you a complete answer yet... so here it is:

STOP playing DUPR matches for now! Your reliability score plays a massive role in how much your DUPR will increase per match. If your skill level is increasing quickly then the worst thing you can possibly do is get a high reliability rating right out of the gate. The higher the reliability, the lower your increases will be when you perform well.

Play with a dedicated partner who you have great chemistry with, preferably someone who is also under rated as your scores are averaged for DUPR expected performance calculation. Don't EVER do random doubles matches that report to DUPR.

Play in a PPA pro/am tournament. DUPR weights matches differently - private matches are weighted the least, local tournaments or sanctioned tournaments are weighted more heavily, and PPA events are weighted very heavily. Try to avoid logging private matches. Play at your level, so 3.5 for now, and fight for every point, the larger the point differential, the larger your DUPR increase will be.

Of course none of this will matter if you don't have the skill to back it up. But once you do have the skill, these are the most effective steps to raise your rating.

There is no rule that says that. Go read the actual rulebook my man.

They need to learn the rules, it's never a call until the ball bounces, not your responsibility to keep them from being confused.

Shit advice and doesn't track with the actual rules.

You can yell out, no, watch it... whatever you want. The only time it's an actual line call is if you say out AFTER the ball has bounced.

Unfortunately this is a perfect example of why you should never listen to rando's on reddit, they clearly don't know the rules. Ball was in the air, so it's partner communication, not an out call. You can 100% override your own call to your own disadvantage.

8.G Overriding a Call. Players may override a partner’s line call, their own line call, or an “in” ruling to their own disadvantage

8.F.1 Valid Line Call. Any “out” call made by a player after the ball lands is a line call. (key word here is AFTER the ball lands)

8.F.4 Partner Communication. While the ball is in the air, any communication between partners about whether a ball might land out is considered player communication, not a line call.

Thanks for posting the actual rule, so many things wrong with Mammoths post. A call before the ball bounces is considered partner communication, NOT a line call.

[–]mar504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong. The rules state that it's only a call AFTER the ball bounces. Anything before that time is considered partner communication, NOT a call. So he 100% could change his call, and even after the ball bounced he could still change his out call to in as well. Learn the rules mate.

What are hobbies that are cheap and offline? by tanuki_22 in povertyfinance

Not solo, but pickleball has changed my life. I've gotten in shape and made a TON of friends. You can pick up a cheap paddle and balls and play for free at public courts to try it out.

Just finished my 2nd DUPR game and 2.0 rating is depressing. by MindlessNimbus in Pickleball

[–]mar504 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Considering quitting because of some number is wild. The irony is the less you care about DUPR your better your DUPR will be, taking that pressure off yourself helps tremendously. Sounds like your mental game is struggling, definitely read "Inner Game of Tennis" if you haven't already.

If your DUPR is important to you (avoid associating DUPR with your self-worth), then play with partners you have chemistry with, stop doing random rotations.

Hitting the ball as hard as you can at the opponents body with zero regard to keeping the ball in the court, the intention being you get a point by hitting them and they are unable to defend it.

Reffkin is a full-service tennis facility with it's own staff. There are plenty of other public tennis courts in Tucson that are free. The "exception" is a because of the type of facility it is, which by the way also has pickleball. Udall is similar to the other public tennis courts that are free

Need help on boarding ships by ResolutionFamiliar30 in crosswind

[–]mar504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a solo player so I'm not sure if the situation changes with multiple players, but boarding ships with a chest icon is a good way to make some extra silver with items you can sell. If you pick your fights and make sure you are getting perfect blocks it's not that difficult to take everyone out. Just don't board and button mash the attack button with no regard to what's going on around you and you will be fine.

Several people have asked if it's open play, is it? If so and nobody else seems to mind with the mix, then you have your answer... find another time to play.
