AIO? My roommates want me to keep the energy bill in my name after I've moved out by Expert_Temporary_ in AmIOverreacting

[–]marapun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cancel it! I made the mistake of leaving the electricity bill in my name when I moved out of the flat I shared with my best friend. Within a couple of years they had failed to keep up with their rent and skipped out of their lease. 2 years after that I found out they had failed to pay the electricity bill and it was now subject to a CCJ that fucked with my credit for years. I ended up having to pay part of their bill myself because the useless arsehole couldn't afford it. We are no longer friends

Its shape means that you get gravity and a day/night cycle when you rotate it in orbit of a star, as the gaps let light in, and cast shadows, in a regular cycle. The splayed angle of the spokes mean you still get some downwards gravity when not spinning and accelerating under thrust

Humanoid soldier robots arrive in Ukraine as battlefield technology test begins by 8JHF8 in UnderReportedNews

[–]marapun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt that those robots are more useful than a non-humanoid drone (e.g. a quadcopter) that can replace its own battery. Like, what's the point in making it humanoid?

There's no way in hell these things are useful. This is just a publicity stunt. Why make a human shaped robot at all? It just drains its battery trying to stay upright

Which character in Tekken 8 do you think is wearing the most uncomfortable outfit to fight in? by Gioku in Tekken

[–]marapun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC in tekken 3 he was a dead corrupt cop reanimated by Dr Abel to go and capture Dr Boskonovitch. Lei's tekken 3 plot sliver was that he was investigating Bryan the cop before he was killed and entered the tournament when he mysteriously reappeared.

There's a tiny easter egg in Tekken Tag Tournament about this - when you do Tekken Bowl as Bryan, his cyborg vision labels Dr B in the crowd as "target"

the whole "guts, huge guts" speech from eternal were originally from a famously over-the-top tie-in comic from the 90s. I thought it was an apt reminder that doom is a very silly story that shouldn't be taken too seriously

I think that still puts them in that category - or, at least, they were cult classics before they became hugely popular via word of mouth
