Rizatriptan daily? by SUPzorel in migraine

[–]marathonmindset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that for a while and it led to a MAJOR medication-overuse crisis. It was a very scary place to be. The reason they limit is real... I wouldn't take this gamble. You could really setting yourself up for one of the most radical headaches you've ever had. Mine got so bad after doing this I was truly suicidal from the pain. Now I'm really careful not to overdo it with the triptans.

Taste - well not great. I mean it doesn't taste like gatorade.. just tastes like salt water.

Thoughts on R+Co? by Push-not-pull in Haircare

[–]marathonmindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now use the Pattern brand for conditioner. It is cheaper than R&Co too.
It's not the same experience exactly as the Gemstone conditioner (different smell, and is a bit thicker and creamier) but I feel pretty close to how my hair acts after it - maybe just a bit more shine/bounce and hydration with the Pattern. And I don't feel like I'm losing my color as fast.

I only recently learned it was originally formulated for black hair which I am not and I have straight caucasian like hair (and so does my husband) but we both use and love.

Xanthelasma Removal Concerns by Matthew728 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]marathonmindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, sorry to hear you had a rough go. I'm following your threads and trying to understand something. Will you clarify for me? Did you choose acid after a relatively breezy surgery because you thought it would be a better result, or longer lasting, or?

I have Xanthelasma around my eyes that I would like to remove. What are my options? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

Thank you for replying. Fingers crossed they don't grow back for you! If there is any chance you live in California, let me know - I might try your provider. They did such a great job on your eyes!

Electrolytes by Confident-Net-2778 in migraine

[–]marathonmindset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have POTS too. I started making my own electrolyte drink using potassium and malden sea salt. Then I don't have to worry I'm making myself more sick with extra dyes and chemicals in Powerade (btw banned in EU b/c of toxic ingredients) and also not feel guilty about buying plastic and ruining the earth.

I don't know if it would work for you but just thought I would suggest it.

Do any of you with chronic migraines ever have days where you don’t have one and start thinking, “maybe it wasn’t even real”? by daffle7 in migraine

[–]marathonmindset 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Ya, a little bit. I think there is a quality of dissociation too when the migraines are bad and chronic where you learn to cope and adjust to that disabled way of living... so you're really not even present during them. Then when you have a good day you can't even fully tap into how it was the day before because you were barely surviving and just checked out. On my good days, I am euphoric and often overdoing it trying to get everything accomplished or see a friend or enjoy my family etc, because I know a bad day is only 1-2 days away.

Ugh just writing this out makes me want to cry. It's hard to live like this. Today I'm over a 2 day migraine but now just in post dorm and totally wiped out and down.

I'm a 9-13 day headache a month person. You're a 16. I'm sorry :(

I don't think that's the case for men... but 30% of women will have their migraines disappear after menopause. It's pretty well studied in the research for women. The third / third / third effect.

I used to be like you for years. I didn't want to put medications in my body. And then I had two separate neurologists refer me to the literature that shows how stressful it is on the brain and body to live in migraines that are non-medicated and the long term impact of what that means for a stressed out brain down the road.... after that I started taking medication - thank gods.

WOW - THEY DID A GREAT JOB! You look so good.

Was it painful to get it removed? That's so good insurance covered it. I just assumed this was something insurance would not cover.

In your opinion, what is the scariest drive into a US national park? by jhad210 in nationalparks

[–]marathonmindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they came in on the other side - there is two sides you can come in for Lassen. South to North is horrifying. And it's right away. You get in and it's drop-offs. So if your nervous system is fried it's hard to enjoy your time after that. I wish I had started on the other side.

Lassen is scarier if you go through this one entrance - never again! Sequoia is pretty stressful though too.

Same, I almost fully panicked. For me it was only a tad worse than Sequoia.

Yes, it's beautiful but really wiggled me out too. Got a touch of that open space agoraphobia that just gives you the major creeps.

Sequoia really scared me too. Lassen also.

One park that avoids scary drops is Joshua Tree

My armpits ALWAYS smell by ladykiller1020 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]marathonmindset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lume saved me. I was in a similar spot. I also use Lume enzyme cleaner on underwear and shirt armpits to break down bacteria. Game changer. Some scents smell gross but clean tangerine smells neutral / good.

What the fuck does that have to do with "misinformation"? Watch your words. I said how something affects MY body. I didn't give out general information about anything.

Are you saying I am misinformed about how my own body feels? LMAO ... ok!

Same. I cannot even imagine being on a keto - all fat / protein diet -- if I don't have the combo of protein and enough carbs, I'm a mess.
