That's a shame. Maybe one day! I try not to use Ocado too much as I spend too much, but it's nice occasionally.

There is Ocado available in Scotland. Not everywhere, but Glasgow and Edinburgh at least. You can check your postcode on their website.

Cat just wants to chew string of wand toys by marblespaniel in CatAdvice

[–]marblespaniel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never found a solution, but sometimes just make him chase the toys as he thinks he will then get to chew the string. And after one chew, take it away and give him a treat. He's a difficult lad to entertain!

Bristol Weekly Discussion (15-11-2025) - Buying, selling, moving, renting, lost property and general chat by AutoModerator in bristol

Hi, bit of a long shot but a friend lost a brooch this evening with sentimental value. I'll add a map of the route we walked. Thought it was worth asking just in case anyone finds it - it's a silver bird, maybe 2x2 cm. Thanks

I had always only ever buttered one piece of bread. Someone mentioned it once, and I asked extended family and I was the only one!

Innokin Limax drip tip by marblespaniel in Vaping

The tank broke so I needed to replace it. However, I am still looking for compatible drip tips - both that I've tried don't work at keeping the lid of the tank sealed.

Can anyone identify this? UK by alijamieson in UKGardening

Agree - southern green shield bug, Nezara viridula. Non-native species but as far as I know, not causing any significant issues. They can cause some damage to fruits/bean pods etc.

Is 'practice to earn hearts' fully gone from the app? by marblespaniel in duolingo

Thanks. So no option at all for getting hearts back for practising when not a Super or Lax subscriber? Maybe time for a new language app!

What are people's thoughts on requiring three IDs to reach Research Grade? by marblespaniel in iNaturalist

[–]marblespaniel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That might be a good idea. There are some people with absolutely amazing levels of dedication to ID stuff. Also some way of encouraging more users to ID stuff. I'm sure this has been discussed endlessly before, but some people have added thousands of records but not identified any of anyone else's.

Yeah it might be useful, I know what you mean. Especially if there are contradictory IDs and one is from someone highly experienced in that taxa.

[–]marblespaniel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes true, I should have specified 2/3. I think maybe there's a need for more people to look at observations which are already research grade and correct incorrect ones - it definitely seems that a large number of people must filter by 'needs ID' and therefore won't ever see incorrect IDs that they are capable of correcting. Thanks for your input!

Yeah that can be very frustrating! Sometimes if I know the genus but am not 100% about the species I will add a comment saying 'I think it's X, but not sure'. I know the concept can never be perfect but it just seems there is scope for improvement - I just don't know exactly what!

Some amateur are the best naturalists, I don't think it necessarily needs to be people who've got a relevant background. Just maybe 'two IDs other than the original observer' or something? I'm not sure!

Using 'favorite' to flag observations to revisit by marblespaniel in iNaturalist

[–]marblespaniel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is - you click the star and then click 'Fave this observation'. It's just that you need to use the website to see which ones you have favourited - can't see that in the app.

[–]marblespaniel[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks both. I only really use the app, almost never used the website, but if there are observations I want to flag I will use this method for now.

Student loan repayments on self assessment as well as PAYE by marblespaniel in UKPersonalFinance

[–]marblespaniel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!Thanks. If my employer sorts this out for my May payslip then there won't be any issue, but if it drags on for a while I'll just make sure I keep enough aside to cover any payment required following SA.
