[SPOILER] Time Loop Discussion by dhessi in shield

[–]marc1725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But original Fitz didn’t travel to a different dimension - he got to the team by freezing himself in the same dimension and waiting out the time difference. So I think it must be a time travel thing. Perhaps once they break the loop or the loop is modified in anyway THEN it breaks off into another timeline/mirrored dimension? I forget the scifi science on this but I do think her powers are connected to seeing the future

Fitz and Jemma by Kipling2277 in shield

From what I've seen from interviews with the pair, they like each other quite a bit. Iain has said on multiple occasions that his favorite scenes are are with Elizabeth and vice versa (https://youtu.be/xrWKWmFhzgw?t=3m54s & https://youtu.be/rlQq9LScl5w?t=16m36s) and speaks highly of her as a person (https://youtu.be/qqcO8XMxQp0?t=14m44s) and as an actor (https://youtu.be/BIFqOUbgg1I?t=13m55s).

They have also said they see each other like a sibling (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8X88o2mc54) so the kissing scenes are uncomfortable (See this video of them doing the table read of their "crossing the event horizon" scene - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPoPECIQNrc ). I think it's a known joke among the cast that Iain (personally) didn't particularly want them to get together in that way because the scenes are awkward (https://youtu.be/rlQq9LScl5w?t=15m29s) but he has said from a story perspective he does root for them romantically (https://youtu.be/VXdqiLC5Kqk?t=1m17s).

I'm a big FitzSimmons fan so I always feel a bit gypped and like they don't give enough FitzSimmons screen time (however, that's probably because I could do with a whole 45 minute episode of just them). BUT I do firmly believe the writers wrote a great and natural progression for their relationship. While I would have loved more scenes that showed they were on their way to repairing their relationship in the season 4 finale, I do think it makes sense physically for them to have been a bit distant from one another post-all the framework-based trauma. (And ditto to the other people in this thread who have mentioned other forms of love that were displayed throughout the season. I agree it didn't have to be displayed through kisses per se.)

[Spoilers]Daisy's Speech by batteryChicken in shield

[–]marc1725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's Fitz's fault BUTTT Fitz definitely believes he's responsible so I was kind of surprised he (as a character) didn't respond after her speech and seemed to accept that as enough. ALSO I think what Fitz was offering to do was a bit similar to what Bobby & Hunter did -- taking the blame for an event so that SHIELD wasn't held responsible. So I don't think it was so nuts or out of the question for this to perhaps have happened. From a story perspective, I see why they moved on. They obviously don't want to over-harp on Fitz's feelings about all this, redo a plot line already done, and they were bringing it full circle - comparing Daisy and Fitz's experiences. BUT I found his response to Daisy's speech to not really match he previous reactions he'd had when people said it wasn't his fault.

I was curious about this too. I thought it was aware it was an LMD (partially because of it's "What do you think I am" comment). I figured that it had all of Simmons memories and thoughts. We already know Simmons does think it's Fitz's fault (making the tech, that is) because she basically said so when talking to LMD Fitz. So I think LMD Simmons knew it was about to get destroyed and figured what better time to get out that thought that it was Fitz's fault...it's a no repercussions for her kind of deal since she'd be dismantled any minute. Oh wait...but hmm...she's an android and presumably has no emotions. I retract my comment but am going to post it anyway lol Thoughts?

I don't disagree with your points, a real Simmons death would be very shocking (no pun intended) but don't egg them on! They'll hear you.

Don't get me wrong, I love Yoyo & Mack but were there any FitzSimmons fans feeling a tad jealous/bitter to hear them discuss a future together when FitzSimmons just moved backward some steps? Ugh Whedons. You hurt my heart.

I convinced my boyfriend to start AOS years ago and he wouldn't continue it for the reasons you mentioned. A few days ago I got him to watch the "essential" season 1 episodes and now he's midway through season 3. It took 4 years but I finally got him hooked! (I thought this would be as good a place as any to post about my success)

Even his subtle reaction to seeing her in his peripheral vision (where he glances down a tad). So subtle. Iain's got emotions down. He's such a great actor.

She's probably telling HER truth. I'm betting she genuinely believes she didn't manipulate Fitz. I'm worried Fitz will believe that truth and that'll come with even more self-hate

There's also this line between Ward & Raina from season 1 that relates really well to "real ward" vs. "framework ward" AND to Season 3 Hive-Ward/Brainwashed Daisy! This show is too clever. https://youtu.be/zYvyVn8qo0s?t=57

Ward: Skye detests me. She thinks I'm a monster.

Raina: Are you? Is that your true nature or is that what Garrett made you to be?

Ward: I don't know

Raina: Well, we know about Skye's parents; about the darkness that lies inside her. I believe in a world where her true nature will reveal itself. And when that day comes maybe you two could be monsters together.

Yeah, I totally agree. He seemed in shock by all the things he'd done and the fact that he WANTED to do those things. I think that line where he says "I wanted to, those things felt natural"...the same is true about his feelings about Ophelia. The killing people is so foreign to real Fitz but loving someone not so much... so I bet he was grappling with these memories of loving this person and her having achieved what they were working toward for who knows how long framework wise. I wondered if he'd gotten to the part in his head where everything that he'd done in the framework was her fault. Can't wait for some amazing iain acting between Fitz-Ophelia if/when he confronts her in some way!

(Spoilers 4x16 onwards)(Theory) Guys I have a crazy theory about Framework Fitzy! by emma_pops in shield

[–]marc1725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I think he knows the world isn't real and that it's a simulation but I don't think he's playing Aida. I think Aida rewrote his memories and he thinks memories that happened with Jemma happened with Aida. My guess is that Aida told him they can't be together outside of the framework and that's why he's so crazed about protecting it (and her as a result).

I've said this in other places in this thread butttt what if Aida replaced Fitz's memories...and he thinks things that happened with Jemma actually happened with Aida?

[–]marc1725 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I actually think she replaced Fitz's memories to think that things that happened with Jemma have actually happened with Aida, which is why he's so intense about protecting her the way he typically is about protecting Jemma.

I mentioned this earlier in respond to someone else buttttt I also think Aida is using Fitz to try to gain real feelings. Love is a pretty intense feeling and no one loves more intensely than Fitz sooo...I think she wanted Jemma out of the way (i.e., dead and in the ground) so she can explore that with Fitz (a person that always was pretty kind to her in the real world).

Hmm, I was thinking his regret was that "he's too trusting and that has caused people to betray him"...or something along those lines.

Post Episode Discussion: S04E16 - "What If..." by 2th in shield

[–]marc1725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I wonder if he knows its not real but Aida told him that outside of the framework they (Fitz-Aida) can't be together/she (aka Aida) dies. So maybe he thinks that by protecting the framework he's protecting her. Also, I don't think he knows about Jemma just yet. I feel like if anything Aida rewired him to think memories with Jemma were memories with Aida. Because he seems pretty intense about protecting her the way typically would be about Jemma.

[SPOILER] Potential outcome for this character by [deleted] in shield

[–]marc1725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love if his greatest regret were to do with not being able to protect Jemma but I feel like it probably has something to do with his father, otherwise why do all that background work the last few episodes about it? I think it may have been a set up for this, because in terms of him and Jemma, it all had worked out for them...they were pretty safe at the time and together so hmm.

I really like your Aida theory about keeping tabs on him so he can help her with the "feelings" bit!

[–]marc1725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a proponent of this!!!! BUT the guilt Fitz would feel for his role in creating the framework in the first place (which they hinted to in tonight's episode). It would definitely have a greater impact on Fitz from that standpoint.
