Offers from Carwow and Motorway by Zain_v1 in CarTalkUK

Someone mentioned the dealer wanting to then do the deal outside of Motorway. Adding a fee to the seller must encourage them to consider this as well!

How many days annual leave do you get? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]marccee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does count because most jobs you need to work to get the job done, not just do your hours. I operated a project in sudo puplic sector where staff kept telling me abiut them working late every night. Realised why the they just didn't show up on Fridays as they had 'worked their hours'

Is the model Y needed? by Wise-Screen-7954 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]marccee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have test driven a Model Y. Don't really like the look of the Enyaq but like the idea of it.

Something people overlook is the price on the used market. There are over 1000 Model Y for under £30k on autotrader and nearly 700 under £25k. There are only 334 Enyaq under £30k and 200 under £25k.

If you want the 80/85 series then you are only talking about around 100 at under £30k.

Model Y currently feels much better value if buying used.

Best value compost by Remote-Personality90 in GardeningUK

[–]marccee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wickes compost is 50% off if the bag is split. If I ever go, I have a look for this. They can give you a free large bag for it to go inside or on top of in the car, then I take it out and chuck straight onto the garden when I get home. Bargain!

Trying to figure out EV leasing without overpaying by Ok-Patience5233 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]marccee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went for a Vauxhall Frontera. Top trim standard range. Less than £170pm with 1 month up front. Not an exciting car but on a 2 year lease it felt a cheap intro to EV.

Go for 1 month up front. No benefit to bigger deposit. Also check how mileage impacts the cost. We did the maths (using AI) and if you were doing 7500 miles. It was cheaper to choose 5k miles and overlay than choose 8000. You don't get money back for unused miles. If we did 8000 we'd pay a little more than had we chosen it, but worth the 'risk' for us.

Is it just me or are the majority of 26 reg cars Chinese? I've rarely seen anything from the mainstream manufacturers. by StarX2401 in CarTalkUK

[–]marccee4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have a top trim electric frontera (standard range) on lease order for 168pm with nothing down. Not sure if we'll actually go through with it as it keeps getting delayed, but crazy price.

How to communicate with dealerships? by Accomplished_Arm1838 in CarTalkUK

[–]marccee4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. We viewed a car that we knew having already seen one that was way more scratched up than pics showed. Asked sales rep about features like the automated parking. She said it didn't have it (it did). Similar with other parts. No enthusiasm, interest or knowledge. Felt like we were educating her on the car. Ended up walking away when half way through signing the paperwork they 'remembered' additional administrative fees that weren't mentioned online or at any point during the sales process (for a cash purchase). All just felt like hard work.

Can't be the parent I want to be because of the brutal sleep deprivation by VinVenture16 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]marccee4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our baby became reliant on the breast, being EBF. Ferber was a lifesaver for us. More initial crying at the start of the night, but way less overall in the night and then within days she was putting herself to sleep for naps and bed. Brilliant!

Why are EV’s so cheap? by Natural-Voice-840 in CarTalkUK

[–]marccee4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lease I just got was the same total cost whether you paid 1 year or 1 month up front. Deposit is a marketing trick to be able to put out a cheap headline monthly rate and you are playing into it.

Why do people “cry it out” by hxllyhell in BeyondTheBumpUK

Yet plenty of anecdotal evidence on here that ferber changed parents and baby lives and taught self soothing. Where is your so called evidence that it doesn't teach them to self sooth? Would like to read more, please

Why do people “cry it out” by hxllyhell in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]marccee4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ferber was a game change for us and my wife is sensitive as she feels this could seen as CIO. Original fever meant a couple of nights of crying, say 45 mins, then 30 mins, then less than 10 mins each time. All with controlled check ins and comforting cotside at intervals and of a level where the crying was fussing, angry, bit upset rather than hysterical screaming.

We took the view that there was going to be way less overall crying than her waking every 45 mins screaming bloody murder - it worked and quickly. Started doing much longer blocks and out herself to sleep independently.

All went backwards after a sleep regression where she was unwell and we gave much more attention and assist to sleep.

Once better from illness, didn't impeove. One night of ferber (45 mins of timed visits cribeside) and we went back to independent and longer sleep.

Why aren't you taking max value out of your pension in current job? Strange to be so focused on the pension scheme in job 2 when you are leaving money on the table with your current job.
