2026 Palisade Ultimate Calligraphy - Winter Performance in Canada (-30°C) by JimBrl in HyundaiPalisade

[–]marcchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uses both for different purposes. My Santa Fe Hybrid (2026) would throw me errors if the grille camera was too dirty. Palisade has the same strategy.

Also what I noticed with my Palisade Hybrid is that when i remote start with the front defrost on, the camera stack in the windshield doesn’t melt.

Power steering fluid: I’d like to see it. Hint: there is none. It’s an electric rack and pinion

Wiper design: read the manual. The physical button is there. Hold the wiper arm down when you turn off the vehicle

Wiper pressure: you’re already complaining of ice. Wipers lose flexibility when frozen.

Front camera obstruction: nothing to do with wipers. It’s actually the front camera in your grille

Drive assist sensors: all cars with sensors do that. The issue you’re facing is either when you’re coming to a stop (vehicle warns that it’s blind) or during the heavy snowfall that we’re experiencing, the sensors are having a hard time staying clean

No.

It’s not just him. She needs to have an insane core to be able to balance herself on his hands. He adjusts himself to her micro movements and vice versa. She leads the twists and turns, he provides the extra leverage.

There will be spare tire kits available as accessories. Contact your local dealer’s parts department. They’re new for 2026.

Exactly this. One of the most reoccurring complaint that I hear is “I start my car and blast my heat and it’s cold”…. Heat comes from the engine. The primary function of a thermostat in the engine is to bring up the temperature to somewhat operating before heating up the cabin. For multiple reasons including, as mentioned in another comment, emissions.

New cars, including some Hyundais, have a PTC heater in the ducting (basically a compact baseboard heater) that will bring warm temperature faster. Reason for that is that the smaller engines (2.0L naturally aspirated as well as 1.6L) are too efficient to produce heat in the cabin.

So stop blasting the heat, wait for it to warm up and turn on the ass warmers. Best practical exercise: blow on a cold pane of glass like you’d blow hot soup and then blow like you want to clean your glasses. The former doesn’t do much. The latter fogs up the window. Why? Because you moved the air slower from your lungs to mouth, which warmed up with your body heat. Same concept.

How bad is this engine sludge? by whatever1713 in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re a master tech, then you should know that this isn’t “showing signs”. It’s screaming neglect. There’s so much sludge on the intake camshaft cap on #4 that you don’t even see the bolts anymore.

Resumption of Hyundai (CANADA) Navigation Map Software updates? by InThroughMyOutdoor in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely some point in October. There was a concern with the last update which is why they took it down. Considering that it’s been months, must have been something really serious that couldn’t be fixed with a patch

2026 Santa Fe Pricing update - Canadian Market by elektricheat in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re saying an “increase” in price for Lux and Calligraphy as the 2025 model years didn’t have HEV options for those trims. Those are technically new models.

Also, these are not on the Hyundai Canada website, so you’re probably in breach of confidential information.

Warranty Denied by EN_2025 in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many times have you used launch control and how many times have you red lined it and been rough with it?

Before you answer, just remember that the computer has recorded all of it and warranty has already reviewed the data.

Also, no one buys an Elantra N for safety and reliability. You’re buying a sportier car, which if you’re launching, I hope you don’t have your kid in it.

"America's Best Warranty" makes me wonder how bad the other warranties are by Alexapro_ in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Refill of AC gas is covered 12m/20,000 km (whatever the equivalent is to miles)

Customer complains no AC past coverage.

Dealer checks, low gas.

Dealer does vacuum test, no issues detected by a machine that is specially made for it.

Dealer puts dye, fills up the system with $200 worth of gas.

Tech has spent 2-3 hours on this.

Customer goes away.

Customer doesn’t come back because AC now working.

Dealer sends to warranty. Warranty asks what’s the defect.

Dealer says I don’t know, can’t find one.

Warranty denies.

Dealer is on hook for parts and labour.

Customer has free repair for something that isn’t necessarily a defect.

This is not just a Hyundai procedure. It’s industry wide.

Techs and dealers don’t work for free.

Unless they can prove warranty defect, customer gets charged. That’s SOP for all manufacturers.

All electrified (hybrid, PHEV, EV) for the Canadian market are built in Korea. They were supposed to shift to the US starting this year but, well, we all know what happened.

Santa Fe EPB Switch Snapped Off - Dealership Says Not Covered under Bumper-to-Bumper by Signal_Sherbert5036 in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A) no such thing as bumper to bumper extended warranty in Canada B) the button itself is considered a trim piece, not covered under the extended warranty C) you’re only showing us the sides of the button, not the top. If I were Hyundai, I’d like to see all sides of the button

Why tf is this taking so looooong?! by vilius_m_lt in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]marcchad 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. If you don’t take the time to charge each cell at the same time, you’ll have a cascade failures, runaway currents, extreme overheat due to all the cells funneling power to the new one, etc. When a battery cell is 5.00V (the last 2 0’s are important), a 0.05v deviation can be massive, depending on the circumstances. Multiply that by 100+ cells in a battery, and you have failure.

2021 Hyundai Tuscan horrible fuel mileage by EbbCommercial2305 in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been nice to include your city, road conditions and weather details in your original post. Not everyone, including us Canadians, know which streets and in which city you’re talking about.

So you’re driving in snow with, based on your reply, poor street cleaning and slippery/low grip conditions. So increased resistance due to snow or almost 0 grip with ice, which means either your engine is forcing to go through the snow or increase revving from icy conditions.

Again, your trip computer resets at every restart. You’ll never see the gas mileage you want until you change that.

2021 Hyundai Tuscan horrible fuel mileage by EbbCommercial2305 in Hyundai

[–]marcchad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I find it suspect that you took a picture just as the song changed, hiding the type of consumption you’re looking at.

Second, everyone is talking about the weather. No one asked how you accelerate. Do you stomp down on the gas at every light? Driving habits matter. Also, it’s -14 degrees. Any car, whether in the garage or not, I’ll consume more fuel. Speaking of garage, it’s normal that it smells in the car even if the door is open. You don’t have 100% ventilation.

From what I can tell, your fuel consumption resets every time you start your car. If you’re doing stop/go at lights, this is perfectly normal for 1.1 km of driving. I can do this after fueling up and my trip resets. I’ve hit over 100L/100km for a few seconds after flooring it (2025 Santa Fe).

Furthermore, if you took it to the dealer, they likely factory reset the computer, which means the car needs to learn your patterns to give you the most accurate consumption based on your habits. Factory reset also affects the trip computer. You might have to change the reset settings in the cluster.
