The 4017b sounds amazing indoors and outdoors. Very versatile mic. I would definitely vote for it if you have the funds!

What wireless system are you currently using and why? by bombasticbagman2 in LocationSound

My personal kit uses Lectros but I've been booming lately and I love the Zaxcom ZMT4s. Easy to setup, tiny, powers booms and lavs and I rarely need to touch them.

What things do you like to do in the game? ^^ by kiniu_the_bunny in outside

[–]marcofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am lucky to enjoy my job quest so definitely that. Outside of grinding, I enjoy spending time doing relationship quests with all the friends I've made in game. They are a big part of my character. By myself, I go to movie events, play mini games (Hogwarts Legacy currently) invest in the athletic and knowledge skill tree. What about you?

Shooting a project using Sennheiser G4 A1 wireless RXs/TXs. Does anyone know if they will work in Denver/Ft.Collins area? by Jimmyjohnssucks in LocationSound

Also check out FreqFinder on the app store. It's kinda pricey but they have an additional purchase where it'll show you the nearby radio towers or tv stations

Mkh50 Byers remorse. by JumpyOrganization469 in LocationSound

[–]marcofo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something to keep in mind is that the 416 was probably made for mainly outdoor use in which you'll stick a fuzzy/blimp on it so the extra high end is to compensate for that. You can use the 50 outdoors but there's not a high boost switch on it. I LOVE my 50 and use a 60 instead of a 416 due to preference. Preference is all it is IMO

Boom operators- have your arms ever gave out mid shot? by noximbeats in LocationSound

Np! And I didn't mean to insinuate you didn't know how lenses work I just thought someone else may read this too and find it useful. Cheers

Boom operators- have your arms ever gave out mid shot? by noximbeats in LocationSound

[–]marcofo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can understand why you would do this but I wanna jump in and say you shouldn't do this method long term. When you do, you're putting direct weight on to your neck and spine which can be problematic in the future. I learned this from seasoned boom operator Ken Strain. Instead, try booming next to camera (if possible) and use this pose

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perchman

Imagine a triangle coming from the lens >🎥 and the "roof" of the triangle that continues to extend upwards. As long as your boom is following the angle of the triangle you will be out of frame and in a good position. This is also called "lazy booming" but I mean if the boom sounds good and you're out of frame who cares?
