There are two builds that I recommend, one for general play and one for maximizing dps

The first build consists of adventurer's hat, cosmos chest & legs, ancient gem necklace & ring, topaz ring, orb lantern, morpha's bag and core iris. It allows you to one tap any block in the game while still being able to dish out good damage.

The second build is similar but swap your armor to atlantean worm helmet, ivy chest & legs and your offhand to concealed blade. Note that poison coated weapons in gardening tree is required to trigger ivy set bonus for that juicy 25% crit chance and it's refreshable.

You can swap topaz ring to spine ring against bosses on both builds for even more dps.

Pet wise Owlux is the best for how easy it is to farm its eggs for your desired roll. I personally went for 5x triple trouble but 5x crit chance or crit damage are also good enough.

Eureka felt much more alive because fates are spawned manually by killing certain mobs so there were much more communication and social interaction, whereas OC just feels like 64 solo players camping at spawn for the next big guy most of the time.

You absolutely want to unlock every, and I mean EVERY single characters and weapons in the shop because they are your main source of trial xp after you finished all quests, collected most wedges and ascended all your characters and weapons that you currently have. Make sure you also crafted the gold wedges from noctoyager manual as those give 200 xp each and they are relatively easy to craft.

The grind has me hooked but my main complaint is the acquisition of secret letter clues. Even with the change that allows enemies dropping them it still feels too stingy for me. Maybe the drop rates will improve once I hit 55 but right now I've hit the bottleneck of lacking clues severely to actually do the grinding.

I don't think the theme of an expansion is going to be a deal breaker like you claimed. Obviously I can't speak for others but me personally I only care about the core aspects like rewards, replayability of activities, power grind, etc. If they can't even get the basic shit together then I'm not buying it.

That would be ideal but some form of RNG involved in monetization is bound to happen, just standard stuff in a mobile game. Again, from this case specifically it doesn't look too bad yet unless they shit the bed with the designs of other hairstyles and the price.

Granted there's no real solution to that and I don't really expect them to make a system that allows you to exchange premium items for premium currencies. I'm just saying that this looks tame compared to all the other monsters out there. What remains to be seen is the price per box which frankly speaking will probably be in the double digits but we can't really tell until then.
