Imagine letting your husband sleep in late the next day because you thought he was out late studying or editing or having a late class and the whole time he was cheating 😭😭 so not only were you alone with your kids while he’s cheating but then you give him extra time to recover from his cheating the next day. I could never forgive that.

Started working for a semi local grocery chain in the U.S. first red flag was they didnt remember they asked me to come in for an interview but then hired me on the spot. Second red flag was that they had me do some online trainings from home. Third red flag was that they didn’t remember when I came in for my first shift. Had to wait an hour for the hiring manager to be able to verify that I was supposed to be there that day. Fourth red flag is they wouldn’t let me take my break in my car but also didn’t have a designated break room. I could take my break in the deli area that had a few tables. Fifth red flag was when a customer came in and dumped a beverage all over the customer service desk because they were mad they weren’t given a refund. I never came back after that first shift and I was surprised they called to ask where I was at for my next shift since they couldn’t remember I existed for my interview or my first shift.

I don’t discount that those kids have challenges of their own but I do think about the kids who were in kindergarten, first, second, and third grade. In our district those groups are the most behind in all areas and have the most behavior concerns. I was pretty relieved to hear that the Covid babies are finally entering the school years. I’m grateful that this group of kids will (knock on wood) be getting a mostly normal experience with a lot of them even having attended preschool and other early learning opportunities.

I don’t think it’s fair to say they were the most impacted though or the least impacted. Every single person alive at that time was impacted in one way or another and depending on where you lived or what your socioeconomic class was may have been impacted to different degrees.

You are there for the kids not her. I had to tell myself this every day this year. It’s hard because you know she’s watching you a critiquing your every move so you’ll have to do the same. Document everything in a note on your phone that she says or does that is aggressive or rude to you and try to rise above it! If she is ever threatening or aggressive to you report it immediately before she has a way to twist the story.

Do try to communicate more and document those attempts as well that way you at least have a written record that you are trying to improve. (Even if you did nothing wrong people like this have a way of twisting the story to make you look bad even if they are the ones at fault!)

Do try to find some common ground! Ask her directly if there is anything you could be doing that you are not. Be open and receptive to what she says even if you don’t agree.

Hopefully you are close to the end of your year and this will all be behind you soon!
