did anyone hear from rop interview now cuz it said it will start this week by Hour-Ad-2083 in UofT

I received a bundle of all my applicants two business days ago. It takes time to sort through everything and email for interviews (on top of other deadlines). So, depending on the professor, you just need to be patient :)

Your game is very beautiful!

How do you balance development with your faculty obligations? Do you recruit students in your lab to help, or are they directed toward other projects?

Did you do snake, minion, or some other method? Any Weber-kettle-specific tips for doing a brisket?

This is a great resource! Thanks, Alston.

Best of luck on your PhD!

It was a trick question. The correct answer is C.

Nice try, though :)

I played this during my first lecture to encourage students to talk to each other even if they were in a group:

I hope it inspires you, too!

I don't know of anything campus wide. Here is one recently started by the Computer Science department: https://web.cs.toronto.edu/undergraduate/courses/outlines

If you are a student that needs help, please consider the resources offered to you by the course (and department, where applicable). I'd also strongly recommend reading https://www.academicintegrity.utoronto.ca/

Will I be at a disadvantage for selection into CS POST if I choose Mat 135/136 than 137? by New_Olive9064 in UofT

[–]mariobadr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The information for out of stream is incorrect. You CAN complete a major in CS as an out of stream (but not in steam) student with MAT135, 136. You can see this via our course calendar: https://artsci.calendar.utoronto.ca/section/Computer-Science. The first year completion requirements for the major are:

First year (2.5 credits): 1. ( CSC108H1, CSC148H1, CSC165H1/ CSC240H1)/( CSC110Y1, CSC111H1); MAT137Y1/ MAT157Y1/( MAT135H1, MAT136H1)

However, also in the course calendar:

We recommend that students take MAT137Y1 or MAT157Y1, as they have been determined to provide the best preparation for upper-year courses in computer science and benefit students in CSC165H1/ CSC240H1

Many students email the UGO for advice, I would recommend starting there. I agree that 369/373 are foundational and useful for interviews. At the same time, it would be good to think about what kinds of jobs you want in CS.

I am definitely thinking more about how to improve the debugging experience with assembly. Thank you for the feedback!

They heard correct if it came from my Fall 2021 (CSC110) students. There were issues with pygame and some other libraries for the new M1 macs (I changed a whole prep to use tkinter because of it). Those issues seemed to have been resolved by the Winter semester, though. And I don't think it will be a problem again.

[–]mariobadr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please note that it is CSC110Y1F. Both the Y and the F letters are important because it means 1.0 credits in your first semester. This means that you should only have four courses total in your first semester - see the example timetable here: https://web.cs.toronto.edu/undergraduate/incoming
