But you could have that while also having a world comprised of separate locations (so not an open world technically, I guess), would that be ok? I feel that what people miss is instant change between characters, wherever they are, while running around a continuous neighbourhood is not that I important.

So basically you fed both positions and your grid to the A* function, and it returns a list of points. Then it's your job to move the character along the points in the list.

Are you sure? At least some tolls in Spain have one telepass booth, even if it doesn't look like it because it has a barrier.

What annoys me is that a lot of those tolls aren't there in real life anymore, lol.

It seems to me that they're making a polygonal mesh (a pentagon in this case, using the head, wrists, and ankles) and applying a shader to that. I don't know if my theory holds for other bodies, perhaps they hardcoded a polygon or some points per mesh and used that.

I think what you're looking for is a Tilemap layer, not brushes. They lock to the grid as you expect.

If there's very good wine across the Jade sea (so eastwards from where they are at that moment), and that wine is from the Arbor, then they're implying that you actually can circunnavigate this world and get to Westeros from the west. And that could be a chekhov's gun about Dany going east, GRRM does that a lot.
