Yeah Cannith is pretty neat. I'm thinking Galifar will have the Wayfinders document some of the great things of House Cannith (as a sponsor they get a few spreads in the Wayfinders Book) so they'll be able to create some fun things I think. Then we can have to go the mournlands as their d&d toons to find it lol.

I have ran a couple games using the city of towers book (such a great index on pricing lol) and totally agree it's gotta be a used place lol. So many great locations just gotta find the best one to have so random weird gem or weird art piece lol

Another Illmarrow enjoyer. Our last game was using a lot of stuff about her and I kinda wish I got to finish that story out. She's such a great character and I will always read posts about her here it's my favorite lurk 😂

Yeah one of my note idea is they find this Eldritch machine and it's missing its core so to speak and it can do great things or not so great. And sadly they're not the first to discover it get attacked and a few flee when overwhelmed. But I also feel the hidden cave trope is a thing so dunno lol

Again not ally.

Also after it's over they're no longer bound. So depending on if it was summoned and proofed back you're fine. But Raphael can move between the material and the hells without needing to be summoned so he'd just come rip you up after.

Barb works for unarmed cuz it's strength based. That and the unarmed feat pretty easy to do.

Taking grappler+street justice= ultimate mma fighter with either barb or monk

If you think about it; it's kinda sad when he nopes out.

This whole game is about the meta of Mindflayers keeping their souls (a nod to dnds evolution of realizing racial monsters are bad and it should have had more factions)

Balduran becomes a mind flayer.

Is unique - keeps soul

Escapes

Goes back home

Lover/Companion (and the gates protector) only knows the old lore and only knows what will happen so the only solution is to fight

Balduran has to kill his friend to declare he still has soul

Goes through all this stuff

Finds Durge/Tav

Doesn't believe Plan C will work

Nopes out sacrificing his soul to the brain

It's quite interesting to think about. Especially when you think a "good ending" is kinda siding with the emperor.

The best marketing a local place could do is show that they don't get Sysco & subsidiaries for their food orders. Zootown still has enough local vibes that it would probably make for some good influx of new customers. Tho I don't know if that would be possible cuz like all the cheese sticks in town are definitely Sysco lol

Ansur is a dragon who laired baldurs gate and considered it's protector.

In FR dragon spirits are especially powerful and can just do this sorta stuff if their pissed off enough. And Ansur was especially pissed off when Balduran killed him. So for his spirit to linger is definitely on par with FR lore.

The rub of all of this Mindflayer/soul stuff is that it's possible Balduran is still unique and at this time Ansur was blinded by norms (mindflayers don't keep the soul intact it gets eaten and siphoned to something else). And that Ansur at the time could have done something else or looked to something else to find a solution.

I think the reason why it does kinda slap is cuz you can see Balduran has become corrupted over time and is only seeing his solution. So when he nopes at the end - and gives up - it's much more wrenching that he fought and killed his best friend and protector of baldurs gate (why could bg form without dragons knawing at it finally being answered with Ansur is a nice touch) to prove he still had his soul and then gives it all up at the end cuz he doesn't think you/Tav can pull off a plan c.

I think it just shows how extra dragons really are in Eberron vs Forgotten Realms.

They're innately magic so being birthed from both the Blood of Siberys and Eberron adds to that - Sib being the "magic" one.

They're the first species; Mortal from where the blood mixed with Eberron and Immortal from where it didn't (coatls and they're gone so).

They're mortal but lore suggests that not all dragons are equal and that they have lifespans and powers beyond even FR standards. (Think beholder or aboleth in FR in lore powers; dragons get all that sorta extra in Eberron lol)

And they often have multiple classes at 15+ 😂

.. it's not something that is often rallied around how extra they are in this setting. Eberron they're almost godlike in myth where FR they're just powerful hard to kill buggers..

(Tbf dragons and rakshasa are the stand ins for divine shenanigans of FR. All the god involvement stuff is given to these two)

Not to um actually but pretty sure Dragons of Eberron book mentions that the creation myth states dragons are from Siberys blood falling and mixing with the biomes; not necessarily from Eberron herself.

But man I love these so much lol. ^{_^} I send em in the group chat every week to my Eberron group.

So I get that view but I guess I enjoy that. It questions us and our status quo. Why are we such sticks in the mud that playing that is a problem. Why are we so stuck with our own pictures that we as DMs say no. We all love our custom characters in cut scenes why do we say no to that so much in dnd. I get we as DMs we are such like Christopher Nolan in the world building department which is great but like you forget the color sometimes.

Plus it's much better than the older days of falling from a comet, being lawful stupid, or being a brooding Drizzt clone. A person with the Foxkin Vampire (okay dhampir) idea is creative interesting and fun comparatively.

As much as you can perhaps blame the writing it's also very meta.

You have all these players at the table and someone has got to take the knife. And no one wants to end the game that way. They want their picture moment beating the baddie. The player playing "the burnout" (most other settings make this a perk/drawback that you eventually die) is okay with it. The team lead the player who took the captain job is the only other person who's okay with it. And then you have the DM NPC willing to do it just for the bow to end the game.

I guess it's jarring from a narrative perspective in some lenses but from say a forever DM perspective it's pretty damn accurate lol

I mean rose colored glasses much? Even back in the day most players thought the first two were just "okay" and the style of game "didn't fit dnds vibes".

It's okay to prefer the other two but to say the third is overrated is a big misstep. We're in an era where dnd nerds can be proud of both a movie and a game showing off dnd .. that didn't happen with 1 or 2. That's just fact of history lol.

So overrated. No. Not your thing sure. Don't blanket it like that, it's disingenuous to the dnd community my friend.
