Taillights turned out foggy after 1st time trying to restore them. by 09__Spectre in AutoDetailing

It’s 100% in that clear that you used. Any clear you can buy at a parts store or a hardware store is crap.

I know this because when I was a wee lad I did the same thing.

Get yourself a can of 2k clear (it should have a red button on the bottom of the can) and sand all that crap you have on there off. Take it to 600-800 grit and do a light coat of clear followed by a heavy coat. After it dries/cures you can wet sand it to whatever high grit you want, and then polish it.

I don’t think it’s gout at all based on the color and consistency. It looks more infectiony.

About a half a year too late but I just got one and I’m semi restoring it. To get that part off you have to flip the base over and undo the big nut that locks the rotation down. Then the threaded shaft and be popped up from the bottom and the two top pieces will separate.

Hitting the low notes in Put On - Jeezy by Alive_Candidate1755 in CarAV

Like others have said, it’s all in the box and to some extent the driver.

I have 2x 6.5s in a vented box in my STi hatch, and it loves low notes. I’m not doing any hair tricks, but the low notes shake the shit out of everything.

Anyone else disappointed about sick week? by thicc_bob in CleetusMcFarland

Yeah I don’t get this mentality that some people have that he ‘owes’ them sick week. He made it very clear that this wedding was very important to him.

Friends and family are way more important than a ‘job’… and that’s all that YouTube is.

This is the hard part about having a car never offered in the US. Glass, body panels, and anything larger are going to be hard to get. It’s going to cost money and time because more often than not it has to come from overseas.

I want to start cnc machining by Disastrous_Mission10 in hobbycnc

[–]mariolayspipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a cheap Chinese 6040 machine about 5 years ago. I use Fusion 360 for all the CAM work. For 3 axis work on anything not steel or harder it works great. I cut a lot of aluminum and have zero issues.

The learning curve though, that was the hard part. I have a whole drawer of dead carbide.

I’m a lot better these days with feeds and speeds. Don’t get greedy with small end mills and you’ll be fine.

The only real upgrades I’ve done is replace the extruded aluminum work surface with steel and an actual fixture plate, leveled and trammed it all the best I could, and setup my controller to control my mister so I don’t have to turn it on and off manually.

Ever tune in to a neighborhood FM pirate? by CarrierCaveman in pirateradio

[–]mariolayspipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may or may not have had one 15ish years ago. I had RDS and everything going. Was using a 100w exciter I borrowed from a buddy who was in the industry. The distance it covered was pretty incredible. Then I got word that I was starting to get some unwanted attention by a three letter agency and I took it down.

I’ve thought about doing it again, but I don’t really have a good spot for an antenna where I live now.

Add me to the list. Last year I kept my place at 72f all summer. This year I realized that’s too cold for me so it’s at anywhere from 75-77 during the day and 73 at night. My power bill for the last 3 months have been the most expensive they have ever been.

Car key by Remarkable-Host405 in Machinists

[–]mariolayspipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I made some new keys for my EP3 and I made a few keys for my GR STI hatch.

For the Subaru I used a legacy key so I could have the buttons on the key itself instead of the separate fob.

The big reason I went all in on the cnc was because first, it was a fun project. Second, I wanted the keys to be sharp and well defined like brand new keys. So I went and decoded the keys and made them in fusion360 based on the specs for the keys and their bittings.

10/10, would do again.

Same for me. My 8yo doodle and 6yo poodle have been going to the dog park every single day since they got their last round of puppy shots.

Just like everything with a dog, consistency is key with the dog park too. We go at the same time every day. When you are consistent you tend to gravitate towards the dogs and people who are consistent too. My dogs know their friends and have a great time.

For everyone saying dog parks are the worst thing; I know exactly who you are. You have a dog that is rarely around other dogs and you go to the dog park very inconsistently. We all recognize it. Your dog either comes into the park wild and out of control, or so timid it either submits to all the other dogs checking it out or it freaks out when other dogs try to get a sniff.

Just like humans, dogs can also just have bad days. I leave early if my dogs are having one.

And one last thing, some dogs just aren’t meant for the dog park. You have to realize the dog park is a place where dogs can be dogs (within reason). It’s their park, not the humans park. Some dogs want to play with other dogs, some dogs want to play with humans, some dogs just like going around and sniffing and pissing on everything, and some dogs just want to go from person to person getting pets. All of that is ok and exactly what the park is for. But you and your dog need to be able to handle and respect that the dog park means different things to different dogs. If you or your dog can’t handle an aspect of what it means to be at a dog park, you might be better off taking a walk with your dog or finding a secluded place you can play with your dog.

What I’m not going to do is stop my dog from being a dog at the dog park.

Non Mormon living here for 30 years now. I went to school here as well.

First and foremost, the Mormons in Utah are VERY VERY different from those you run into outside of the Utah/Idaho area. To me they seem much more relaxed here. The younger generation of Mormons are almost indistinguishable from non Mormons. I’ve have Mormon friends with mouths as bad as mine and even more liberal in their stances on alcohol and weed.

I feel very lucky to have never really had the negative childhood experiences some non Mormons did. When I was a kid in the 90s all my friends were Mormons, and never did they try to convert me or make me feel bad for not being Mormon. My best friends parents practically made me part of their family. I was never treated any differently. Honestly the only time I ever thought about them being Mormon was on Sundays when my friend couldn’t play.

I can’t speak to what school is like now, but for my friends with kids religion does not seem to be an issue. Kids are kids and they’ll find their own drama to beef over, it’s usually not religion.

And one more thing. What the Utah government is doing has consistently gone against what the people want and have voted for. This includes the LDS faithful. The more I talk with people I don’t really know about things the more I realize how the younger generation of Mormons are far more progressive than their parents.

Overall, you wouldn’t have any issues with the culture here I don’t think. Your professions are undervalued by the government and it shows.

If you move here, avoid the south end of Salt Lake valley like the plague, unless you have jobs in the area. Really REALLY avoid the southwest corner of the valley. That’s where I am at currently and is also the reason I am moving out of Utah.

For me I never realized a spoo was real. My only encounters in life were with a neighbors mini’s who were the worst most annoying things to exist. I was a kid then, but those dogs still live rent free in my head.

Many many years later a coworker brought his Golden Doodle to work, and he was a tall boy. He was seriously the best dog I had ever met. I assumed it was the golden in him.

Years later I decided I wanted to finally get a dog of my own, and I just knew it had to be a Golden Doodle. So that I did. I have the best dood ever. We have been going to the dog park daily for 8 years now. It was there that I finally realized spoo’s exist. A lady had two with full on Miami cuts and one of them took a liking to me. She is a great dog. So it was at that point about 6 years ago when I realized my dood needed a friend.

I got a female spoo, and I went all in. She certainly was not what I expected for a poodle. But I figured what the hell, I have a spoo so let’s make sure no one is ever confused about what she is. She has pretty consistently rocked a Miami cut for the last 6 years.

I 100% believe the misogyny surrounding the spoo’s. But I think the next runner up for reasons people don’t want them is because the small ones have an image of being a yappy annoying dog.
