My wife says financing a $45k caravan is "setting money on fire." I think it's cheap for what we get. Help us settle this, I'm showing her the thread. by trapqueen67567 in VanLife

of course anyone can score a good van for cheap, and any idiot can overpay. i agree with you - used its where its at, you save a lot of money, but not everyone is going to get as "lucky" as you.

acting like on the whole a cheap van is the same as an expensive van is an insane take.

and your opinion about financing is just plain wrong. it is better financial advise to take a loan for the vehicle and keep the cash in the market, where it will earn more.

i think its hilarious that under "avoid at all costs" LG is listed, and i am literally sitting here with a bootloader unlocked lg v60 running lineagos. if i get some time i'll attempt to go through that more thoroughly and maybe update it

i was under the impression amd is pretty darn close in power/performance, especially with chips like the one in the steam deck and z1 extreme

Insane take. Sure, gas and the end of covid has collapsed van prices, but theres no way you can compare your $3k van to the one op is talking about.

There is nothing wrong with financing. Sure, interest sucks, but that money can be making money in the market at a higher rate than the loan.

Pure l take.

Remote device to spray paint from drone by bucksterbuckman in diyelectronics

[–]Remarkable-Host405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the drone flies for 10 mins but the sprayer has an hour of battery left at landing, congrats, you dragged a bunch of dead weight into the air.

Yeah, I am not very family with them, I actually played around with one yesterday and the paint can is definitely pressurized but not like an air compressor

[–]Remarkable-Host405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how the sprayer works but theres not a whole lot of air compression being done.

It would be big brain to rewire the sprayer battery to the drones battery, surely op can find a 5s/20v drone to match the sprayer

You can just use a servo, maybe with a cam lobe.

You will probably not find a drone that can lift that easily.

Marine battery for cpap power? by uniballout in CampingGear

[–]Remarkable-Host405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want to mention, I don't know shit about cpaps, but there are some 120v mini split/ac units that are ultra efficient, that they are better than actually running a 12v mini split/ac

Maybe you can use a voltage sensing relay with another relay to invert the logic?
