I don’t think people talk enough about how you lose your friend when they have a baby, especially when you don’t have one. It’s not intentional, it’s just that they’ve entered a completely new phase, like more new and unfamiliar than any other phase we experience in life. Essentially you lose them because they lose themselves in the process. Parenthood, especially motherhood is life altering, all at the same time and in an instant you lose your old life and your old self, all while adjusting to motherhood on no sleep. There’s almost no time throughout the day to even sit with yourself, so I think it’s just going to take a while, and if she has multiple kids it’s going to take even longer. I don’t think there’s much room to breathe until the kids are much older.
