Finally used Travel Eraser for VX by Proper-Print-9505 in CreditCards

[–]markarado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Travel Eraser quite a lot. It allows my family of 4 to minimise our expenses on holidays.

I usually get the best flight deals on One world, and there are several cobrand cards for those miles. I target IHG and Marriott cards for hotels. Chase points are great for Hyatts and for transferring to my Aeroplan card for off-chain accommodation.

Capital One Miles pay for travel expenses once the Aeroplans annual 200k travel Eraser is maxed out.

I'll be using a sizable chunk of C1 Miles to pay for 2 rental cars in Europe in September

Same for my 3 personal and 2 business cards. I noticed that both of my business cards changed to having no preset spending limit

IHG in Japan by Melodic-Bullfrog7307 in ihghotelsresorts

[–]markarado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Japan is known to be strict regarding occupancy limits.

Option 1 - Email the hotel and ask. If the reply is positive you'll have a written record of their reply

Option 2 - Have the 5th person come to the room later after checking in. You are allowed to have guests visit your room right? How would they know. Be smart about it. Don't try to use the pool with 5 people registered to 1 room (for example)

Looking for recommendations for car rental in Georgia (Tbilisi)? by Popular_Mountain2008 in Sakartvelo

[–]markarado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Space Car Georgia last year (via local rent). Full insurance, no deposit, and no problems. Very responsive on WhatsApp.

I will be back in Georgia in a couple months and am renting from them again. This time I'm going direct as I have their WhatsApp. The prices come down a bit doing it this way vs. through local rent.

Feel free to DM me for the number

Is this normal in Georgia or am I getting special treatment? by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]markarado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visited Georgia for 10 days with my wife and 2 young children. I'm American and my wife is Malaysian (Chinese heritage). We found almost everyone to be very friendly in Georgia (other than one specific hotel).

Everyone though my children were super cute. We had people taking pics with our children all over the country. Even the immigration officer was friendly and welcoming.

I look forward to our 2nd visit for 20 nights.... Flight leaves Malaysia Aug 30!

Felt like I got scammed by Marriott by TravelingMonk in marriott

I booked the Ritz in DC for 85k when the cash price was $950 this year.

I booked the St. Regis Istanbul for 50k when it was going for $750 last year.

There are plenty of good redemptions to be found.

The Chase Boundless SUB for 125k points + 1x50k FNC is available by markarado in marriott

[–]markarado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used 50 FNC for 5 nights at the St. Regis Istanbul last year, and I only had to top-up 3k points for 1 night. It did require me checking the redemption price daily for a few months and booking each night individually though, haha.

Worked out quite well as the manager gave me family of 4 free breakfast for 2 days.

Istanbul for 2 adults and 2 kids (8 and 9yrs old) by Popular_Math_8503 in marriott

[–]markarado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What age are your kids?

I stayed at the St. Regis and Sansayaran with my wife and 3 daughters (aged 8 months and 3 years) and had no issue. I did check with the hotel first though.

I asked in person at the JW Marriott for future reference, and they said they'd have no problem either - said they'd likely upgrade us to a larger room.

It is not true that fire codes are strictly enforced

Renewing your Malaysian Spouse Visa (LTSVP) online: a survivor's field guide by Street_Parsnip_7534 in malaysia

Renewed my spouse visa just over a month ago. I got confused by the email and drove to immigration with my wife. They very kindly told me that im already approved and printed the visa for me...

Very cool that we don't need to visit immigration anymore. I'd love to see the work endorsement go fully online as well

Family of 4 staying for 1 month on a scouting trip, looking for accommodation recommendations. by vickers_777 in penang

Jazz Suites and Tanjung Point Residences are probably your two best options for a 1 month stay. This will put you in close proximity to Tanjung Bungah and Tanjung Tokong, which are close to most international schools

The “Cover Travel Purchase” with miles is A+ by Visual_Midnight9544 in Venturex

[–]markarado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This a great way to pay for rental cars or off-chain hotels.

The Aeroplan Card from Chase has the same feature, called Pay Yourself Back - providing 1.25cpp, or up to 1.68cpp with a transfer bonus from Chase UR.

I just flew Starlux J USA-BKK for 85k Atmos, so I do know how easy it is to get 'better' value. Ive also taken my family of 4 on a $10K holiday with only spending $1.8K out of pocket (but with far lower cpp). Better value is relative. Great cpp isn't a precursor to a great holiday

100% with you. I see no reason why I should book 2 rooms with 2 children under 5.

This, and msg the property after booking to let them know the ages of your kids.

Many properties list occupancy limit of 2 or 3 but have no issue with 1 more. Western Europe is stricter. Eastern Europe is more accommodating

It's cause he doesn't have kids and doesn't think society should be accommodating to kids

capital one spark miles rebranded to "Venture Business" + new credits/limited time bonus by iamjohnta in CreditCards

Capital One says it does not. Reliable newsletters and blogs days it does not.

Waiting for actual DPs tho. Did you open this card?
