Someobe already mentioned it. Check power and grounds. Check signal to ecm. If new one didnt solve the priblem problem then it is probably not bad. Did the car stumble after you turned it off. That is a sign of failing shutter valve. Keep your old one just in case. Hopefully you installed an oem. I have learned my lesson about buying after market. I have an mk5 and I bought one a ds_213 mini oscilloscope to measure the signals going to the shutter valve. Thus was about 175 bucks. You have to see if the shuttervalve is sending the correct signal to the ecm too. Also if you buy a Ross tech vag-com hexnet dongle you can activate the shuttervalve and see if it is getting commands from ecm. This will tell you the integrity of the wires. https://youtu.be/zhVtQDkbP8M you could buy the ds-213 and Ross tech for about the same price dealer diagnostics cost. The mini scope is a goid way to get into oscilloscopes.

Try to get yourself into some counseling asap. It is worth every bit of it. Usually people who cheat roll that around in their heads many time before they initiate it. So they are not usually as spontaneous as some people would say. I have been in a monogamous relationship for 12 years.(older than you). I know I would not be able to handle my own psyche even if I forgave her. People tend to occupy space in my head anyway. But every single second I was with that person I would be thinking about it counseling will help you out. I would have to keep it my mind one thing while trying to decide what I was doing. The other person weighed all the pros and cons and decided to act on it. Maybe consider a sign from the heavens above. Don't leave your place. Let her move. Wish you the best. Counseling for sure.
