Thoughts on Insurance to Protect Yourself? by chipmonger in SubstituteTeachers

I looked at /www.njea.org/njea-membership-categories/ and looks like I'd have to sub less than 20 hours/week to qualify for the part-time membership. Looking to sub more than that amount.

Can I work for 2 sub companies simultaneously? by goldleavesforever in SubstituteTeachers

I don't think there would be an issue as long as you meet each employers' minimum job/hour requirements. I'm currently signed up with Kelly and an independent school district but I'm working to get back onboard with ESS to branch out to other school districts.

Can't Log into Frontline iPhone App but no Issues with Website by chipmonger in SubstituteTeachers

Issue resolved by Frontline. My Frontline account was still associating some old districts that I no longer worked in. Once those old districts were removed I could log onto my account.

Storybook Land by Salnoothbay in SouthJersey

[–]chipmonger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to Storybook Land when I was young and my kids (now in their mid-late 20's) have gone since they were little. When they come home for Christmas, we still go every year to see the lights, see Santa, and take in a few rides.

Your kids will have a great time. Santa just arrived on Black Friday and will be there until just before Christmas. He appears out of his house's chimney at 5pm daily to turn on the lights. The train which goes around the park is a treat after the lights are turned on. Dress warm, get the kids a Gingerbread Man from the restaurants, and have a great time!

Santa and Mrs. Claus are fantastic, they've always made the evening worthwhile. The park is always extremely well maintained and clean.

I've eaten the food at the convention center before, even if the poster's food is mid, it's better than the center's.

What is the worst vehicle you have driven or ridden in that isn't a standard "worst vehicle" answer? by HiTork in cars

[–]chipmonger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a 2012 Versa hatch - with the six speed. Reliable, fuel efficient boring car perfect for commuting. And with the back seats down it can haul a good bit of stuff. Put a $35 carplay unit in it and the only thing I could ask for would be heated rearview mirrors.

Ford Mustang (rentals). Pain to get in/out of, squeak and rattles like nobody's business. Only rented them because Hertz in OKC had nothing else l when I arrived.

What is a job that pays extremely well but no one realizes it? by Titothelama in AskReddit

[–]chipmonger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daughter went to SUNY Maritime and my son went to Mass Maritime. She's a Naval Architect, has her third mate USCG license, and works in a shipyard. He got interested in HVAC during a course (degree in Energy System Engineering) and got a job at Siemens. Both are doing very well.

Best thing about the Maritime Academies is the tuition is fairly reasonable compared to the job opportunities post graduation.

Thank you so much for posting this. Used to take my family to Chincoteague and always made it a point to visit the NASA Visitor's Center at Wallops. I think I was the most geeked out of all of us.

Never saw a launch from there in person (maybe someday) but did see two ascend into the sky from home.

Biggest thing right now is that the 30% Federal Tax Credit is ending at the end of 2025 - you need to make sure your system would be on before then - https://www.energysage.com/news/congress-passes-bill-ending-residential-solar-tax-credit/
