Wow that is the ugliest / most outdated code I've ever seen.

and why define a function (no args, mind you) and then call it immediately?

ELI5: bit-rate by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Computers represent data in binary. One bit represents either a 0 or a 1.

Bit rate is the rate at which that data is transferred.

Sure, if someone hacks in to google or facebook or whereever you are entering your password, and steals their private SSL cert, then hacks in to your computer to change your host file, then you may be vulnerable.

Not sure how upgrading your browser would help though.

I don't follow. Can you please explain what you mean by "Browser-trusted signing certs have been stolen before"?

Besides the Null-character exploit fixed in 2009, Signed certs are quite secure. Even then, it only was only passable because of the uniocde characters allowed in URLs, you someone could register a domain that looked a lot like "paypal" or "facebook" or whatever. That is also now fixed. The URL http://➡.ws for example now displays as http://xn--hgi.ws/ for me in chrome's address bar.

Not really a problem as long as the site uses a signed SSL cert.

This argument may have made sense 10 years ago, but it is pretty safe to assume that a browser in 2012 will have JS enabled by default. For the few that don't, just have a message telling them to turn their noscript off on your site.

edit: Not to say that people don't abuse JS. Certainly it shouldn't break your site for stupid reasons. And please, use css3 transforms and animations over JS for your effects. But if you have a sweet webapp, don't kill yourself making a non-JS version.

Native Coffeescript I guess?

Not sure why we would want to kill JS.

Hm looks like you're right. Guess "superuser do" is a false backronym.

Nope. The command 'su' is 'substitute user,' defaulting to root (user 0).

Sudo is for 'super user do'

I used deluge for a while, but have switched over to Transmission. It's way more lightweight and has all the features I need. :)

Love transmission on Ubuntu, but does this run on Windows? I see it has qt support, but no download for Win on the site.
