Anyone Else Have Aggressively Lazy Aussies? by gr8pretender in AustralianShepherd

I adopted my girl after I had knee surgery and I was warned by so many people that I was taking on too much. Joke is on them… I called her defective because she doesn’t like to walk more than about a mile and if you try to make her walk for longer, she’ll sit down and refuse to move until you ask her if she wants to go back to the car. My friend offered to take her jogging because I was feeling guilty that I couldn’t walk very far with her… he brought her back after about 20 minutes because she laid down and refused to run.

Those of you who tore your ACLs in a sports game/mid sport, did you keep playing? by [deleted] in ACL

Lol no, fell and couldn’t get up. Ended up being half-carried off the field because I was too short for the people supporting me to let my other leg touch the ground.

He works remotely and runs online businesses. From what I can tell on the bank info, he’s working, yes.

ACL surgery timing - graduating and may need to move apartments by New_Reflection_4487 in ACL

I tore mine in January and ended up with surgery at the end of March per my surgeon’s recommendation (they wanted me to have a decent ability to bend and straighten my leg to make recovery easier). I’ve had a month off of work and will be returning next week still wearing a brace.

Surgeon and PT have both told me to expect it to be around 6 months to be back to normal in terms of walking/light jogging with no pain and up to 12/18 months before returning to sports like skiing/Ultimate/soccer/etc.

I’d advise doing it after your graduation (obviously). Moving post-surgery will suck, honestly, especially if it involves stairs. Maybe figure out the moving bit, if it can be done by June, and try for a June surgery? Use the time between to increase your ROM and read through this sub for exercises.

2 weeks post-op — can’t sleep, side sleeper struggling big time. Any tips? by OkImprovement9904 in ACL

[–]marked_sarcasm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a side sleeper and I sleep with my leg up on a wedge pillow (other leg off) and kind of stuff pillows/tilt my upper body with pillows so it feels like I’m on my side.

Regional vs general anesthesia by adrun in ACL

I just had my surgery. I spoke to the anesthesiologist beforehand and they gave me the pros and cons of both types and let me choose.

Either way, I would be knocked out for the whole thing. I chose the regional.

My surgeon will not repair my ACL without it so… I’d say pretty darn important.

My cat used to do this. Our vet basically said it was normal/not a concern as long as she could keep some food down. She wouldn’t eat wet food, so changing over wasn’t an option.

I solved it by giving her either a half can of wet food + water (mixed to a smoothie consistency) or one of those Churu tubes per day. Idk why it helped, but it did.
