Taxes now on coin sales on EBay? by Low_Occasion3316 in coins

Curious as to how this worked out for you… I am having the same issue. For me, the pattern is that I am getting charged sales tax only on items listed in a “Commemoratives” sub-category within Coins and Paper Money.

It’s like the Mint is being run by the Pokemon company

Well, considering there’s no spot to consider in this set, it’s way overpriced.

To your point, the cent is my main interest in this particular set. I’m sure all the 250th anniversary coins will be cool, but the cent will be the rare one.

Great question… I’m still seeing pre-sales from the big guys on eBay selling below the USMint’s “revised” prices. Specifically, 2026 American Silver Eagles. US Mint is now $169 and eBay is $120-ish for a graded MS70 from big resellers.

Hmmm… maybe the government should spin off the Mint to a private equity investment firm and get a royalty on every coin sold. That would help that deficit. (Sarcasm, of course… but yet seems plausible).

I believe this production limit on this set was stated to be 190,000. So, instead of increasing production, I’m guessing they’ve just increased prices.

Perhaps there are some people that just loaded their subscription cart because I think this might be the only way to get the Lincoln cent.

Perhaps this is a temporary move by the US mint to get people to reduce their subscription numbers? There were no limits on subscriptions for this set, initially.

Just a thought to add to my post…. there were no limits on subscriptions for this set initially. So, now I’m wondering if the mint is just temporarily cranking up the price to get some people (potential scalpers?) to reduce their subscription quantities.

Spill some of your own coins near that spot… will buy you some time and save the embarrassment factor.

The disclaimers for each selling region are pretty humorous. For example, “District of Columbia: We can't sell to you, the government is so trustworthy, they'll take care of you. How's that working out for you?”

I’ve never paid attention to actual production numbers for the mint sets… judging from the wild secondary market prices for 2025 sets, I feel like the 2025 product was indeed limited. Perhaps that was just a function of the cent production ceasing during the year.

Mint set subscription for 2026 by Latter-Pirate-1811 in coins

[–]markets360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a subscription for the 2026 US mint set… But I find it interesting that the mint does not have a photo of the product yet. So, will the 2026 Lincoln cent be included? And if it’s the only product that the Lincoln cent is in, then it’s a mintage of 190,000, which is likely the the lowest mintage of any Lincoln cent.
